I heard they just open the subway
So my questions are:
1-Does it have stop near UNIBE,UASD INTEC?
2-From where to where does it goes?
3- How much does it cost?
4- Will it go to SPM or Santiago?
5-How is the security? any cops to protect you?

If I go just thinking that the power will go and I will be stuck there gives the

I'm pretty into subways, metros, and such, and there is a page on it on UrbanRail, a page devoted to subway systems:

UrbanRail.Net > America > Dominican Republic > Santo Domingo Metro (http://www.urbanrail.net/am/sdom/santo-domingo.htm)

Here is the Wiki on it, with station locations: Santo Domingo Metro - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santo_Domingo_Metro)

I'm not familiar at all with Santo Domingo, so perhaps someone who is can tell by the Wikipedia locations if it runs through any of the schools mentioned above.

It's total garbage. It probably won't be ready for another 2-3 years I'd say. They made such a big deal about it like it's fully functional, but remember it's election year. Subway entrances I've seen, which aren't too many to begin with, are all still very closed.

Liken it a little to when Bush said: "mission accomplished" regarding Iraq.

These guys need to wake up and take a serious look at the condition of some of these hospitals; they would realize a subway is the last thing this country needs. What a joke!

Thanks for the replies.
But generally speaking do you think it will actually help the traffic? or at least help the commute?
I heard that in some hospitals they have NEVER seen TPA or streptokinase.
I also heard about an Island next to the malecon, I just laugh so hard about that news that I only said ONLY IN DR.

According to my Dominican friends, the subway idea is a joke, as previously stated. Santo Domingo has a hard time keeping the electricity on for more than a few hours. How are they going to keep this going in a place as vital as a subway? My friend agreas with the Cubanito, it's just an election ploy. I'd have to see it work for a few weeks or months without ANY problems, before I took it for a ride. I'd rather risk it in an overstuffed gua-gua or carro, thanks!

1. It does have a stop near UASD.
2. From Villa Mella to Centro de los Heroes.
3. No clue.
4. LOL
5. The security would probably top notch, M16 type of stuff.

This is mainly a joke, it is believed that this would alleviate traffic, I think otherwise.
