im an SGU 3rd year currently, and considering to apply to neuro residency. ive never taken a neuro rotation, though, and the earliest i can take it is sept of my 4th year. so, do i submit my application on sept 1st even before i take neuro? and would i still be able to send my recommendation from that rotation? if i cant get neuro, would it be smart to substitute it w/ peds neuro?

thanx a lot:)

are you questioning whether neuro is for you? or are you just worried that you won't have a LoR? If its the former, you really should take it earlier than sept, if the latter, then you can get the letter in after you finish.

and why can't you take neuro before? you should be finished with cores before sept.

again if you are questioning whether neuro is what you want to do, you would be better off taking 2 weeks of neurology to see if you really want to do it. If its just about a letter, well then it can wait (though i wouldn't wait much longer than sept- it will take about a month for the letter to upload )and there may be programs that require a neuro letter for an interview.
