View Full Version : got a question
Hey everyone I’d like to know if there is any Canadian hospital that has affiliation with SGU, preferably the ones in Ottawa.
Plus is it the students’ choice to where to appear for their clinical postings or the University chooses for them, or is it based on ranks or what,
:-miner thanks for your helps......

all the sgu affiliation with hospitals can be found on sgu website in the clinical science page
the students can choose their preference, but sgu will ultimately assign which hospital the student will go to.
not based on rank or gpa, based on the student preference and if you have a legit reason such as my family lives close to there or my spouse is there then you will have a higher preference for that location over someone who doesnt live there or whatever.
thanks alot jaywalk 81, your answer was very valluable,

Here's a link to SGU's hospital affiliation list Affiliated Hospitals - School of Medicine - St. George’s University (http://www.sgu.edu/website/sguwebsite.nsf/som/affiliated-hospitals.html)
You'll notice that the list includes only American and UK sites.
My understanding is that you can do a limited number (12 weeks?) of ELECTIVE rotations at unaffiliated sites (Ottawa for example).
A while back I posted a list of Canadian hospitals that had accomodated SGU students for electives. Ottawa hospitals were on that list, CHEO and another. I'll post the list if I find it.
thanks alot cavelletti, really nice of you,...
I have got actually another question also, is there any separate fees for going in to any hospital or is it just part of the semesters' tuition fees, I mean is there any separate charge or not...
thanks all

if the hospital is affliated with sgu, then no xtra fees
if doing outside electives not affiliated with sgu, then its up to that hospital, which some may ask you to pay for their tuition as well in addition to the tuition you paid for sgu
wow thats really good......thanks jaywalk...
