Hi all,

This is my first week at Mayo as a new resident and needless to say it is an unbelievable organization. This campus in Scottsdale is really magnificent and the weather has been great. The system is totally paperless or at least 98% paperless. I have received a warm welcome and oddly enough Saba is a foreign school that is not unheard of on the Mayo Campus. I am grateful to have been given an oppurtunity to study here and I encourage all Saba students to look at Mayo but understand that good board scores are a big help. For those of you considering Family Medicine Mayo has a wonderful program and to date I have been treated like Gold. Call is q 4 most of the first year with one 1/2 day of outpatient clinic per week which increases as you go through each year. The inpatient service at Mayo Clinic Hospital is unopposed so you are not second fiddle to internal medicine. Post call you finish around 12 noon the following day and are pretty much told to go home. Mayo is very conscious about the new federal regulations regarding work hours. The attending physicians are all friendly and warm and really want to teach. They go out of their way to make you comfortable. The residency coordinator is also a delightful woman who constantly checks in to see that all is going smoothly. Anyhow all of my classmate friends have matched and not one had to scramble. My buds have matched in ER, Psyche, PMNR, INT Med, Fam Practice, and Peds just to name a few. As usual Saba has continued to put out a decent group of residents. I called Gardner and the Match list will be posted shortly as they are still waiting for students to call in and tell the office where they matched. Good luck to all and if you have any questions please be patient and I will respond ASAP.

Sincerely, Scott Jones MD DC PGY 1

Congratulations! Make us proud and give all of us at Saba a good name. There is a Saba graduate who did/doing residency in surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN
