Hi, i am in Shanghai Medical College Fudan University, severing my last a few months of my 7 year program. i have to tell you that the 7-year-program is out of date now and the medical schools will not accept any student in this course. my college, for example, since 2004 no more 7-year students have enrolled. the 7-year course was replace by a 8-year course. first 6 years, you get a bachelor, 2 more years, you get a M.D. The degree is acceptable in US, according to my college. any questions about chinese medical college please inform me.

it's hard to say...two or more years...but your english will be great help when you study in the 8-year-course, coz teachers prefer to teach in english and textbooks use more english than they used to.

Info on Fudan University medical program...

tuition: 75,000RMB inflation no doubt!! I'll bet this tuition will rise 20K per year, and with the declining US dollars it may not be worth it!

I study at Tianjin medical university, here the program is 5.5 years, the last year is a internship year. You have to study chinese and pass an HSK language examination to be able to graduate. There are a good number of americans that are studying in this school. There are Private USMLE courses that are offered here.

Like Tianjin Medical University, China Medical also has a 5 year program. Y wud u apply for the 7 year one.
During your 5 years, u hv to study 2 years of chinese along with your other subjects and the b4 u graduate u hv to take a chinese board exam called HSK. Once u pass your USMLE Step 1 by 3rd Year and Step 2 after u graduate with good scores u can get a residency in the US.
This is a better option to the 7 year program. I am not aware if the 7 year program is accepted!

I am not familiar with how the 7 yr program works... if u do the 5 year program and then u get a residency in US its abt 8 yrs and then u can specialise. I'd say that is a better option.

even if you specialize in something here in china with a master, if you want to specialize in the same thing in america or do a fellowship, you again have to do the same thing in america.
