hey,

there hasnt been much activity here in a while, but i think this is worth saying.

The head surgeon at York Hospital in Upper Toronto recently had a conversation with my father. He told him that he had personally been to Semmelweis to give lectures on specific topics. He said his impression was that it was an amazing school, environment and that the staff was impressive. He is thinking about sending his son there to study. But he explained to my father, that even for canadian citizens it is quite difficult to be accepted for residency back in canada. He said its infact easier to receive residency in the states, and then transfer to canada. Not to say that its impossible, but difficult...........however,

there is some light at the end of the tunnel. He mentioned that in a few years, and even evident as of now, Canada is in serious need of doctors. The canadian system just does not produce enough, and that the requirements and restrictions against foreign educated doctors will be more lax in the coming years. This wasnt his speculation, he said quite factually that in the next 2-4 years, the amount of doctors canada lets in will be drastically increased due to less strict entrance rules.

Just thought some of you might like to know

peace

I think that its a very good thing that there hasn't been activity here, alot of negativity brought on by an unjust influence.
Fortunately problem is temporarily sanitized.
Semmelweis is a good school.
All of the Canadian citizens whom I know of indeed only pursued residencies in the US.
I am still in shock at the system in Great Britain, essentially excluding internationally trained physicians from their system, I am not sure how exactly that worked, but it is unbelievable.

Thanks for the information, Stel. I am looking forward to practicing in Canada someday. It's a bit encouraging to hear news like these.
Regards.
