Hey I wanted to get an idea of what the restrictions are in terms of having a degree from carribean med schools, not only in the United states/canada but from a long term world over perspective (i.e. being able to work in the middle east and european countries). Has anyone had problems getting jobs inside and outside the US/Canada because of their degree? Or does your residency/fellowship university matter more than your medical school? If so what are the chances of getting into residency programs at decent universities in the states?
I'm also applying to ross and I have a 34T with a 3.87 cGPA, research and volunteer experience, and okay LORs. I wanted to apply for may, is this still possible or shud I save my money and apply for the september cycle?
Is it better to apply to the september or may cycle with respect to residency match time? I would figure it would be better to apply to the may, what is your opinion. Help on most of these issues would be appreciated.

I believe they're still accepting folks for the May class and with your numbers you'd probably get a spot...if you're accepted and the May class is full you'll automatically be given a spot in the September class.

I'm just curious though...your numbers are great...have you applied to US schools?

good stats, try U.S schools first. Carrib. should be your last resort.

didn't know about the whole rolling business, so i applied at hte deadlines for most us schools and I don't want to wait another year... i'm also canadian so i can only apply to the better US schools ... i dunno what happened... but maybe it was my essay or something but i only got 1 interview from the states that too from one of the most competitive programs around... so i don't hold out high hopes for it...but do you have any ideas for what I was asking about?

are you canadian?

if you are a US citizen and your degree is from a US school- go apply to US schools. If, for some reason that doesn't work, then come back here.

If you came in September you would enter the 2012 match....I'm not sure how the timing works out for May...of course this all assuming that you complete all coursework and clinical rotations on time...

someone else will have to give you an opinion on the match timing if you enter in May....
