is there a big correlation between the comp and usmle...not score wise..but level of difficulty. When I was on the island a person who score above 240 on the step came back and stated that the comp was harder than the step. I wanted to know what other people's thoughts were on this...

Though the difficulty varies, the comprehensive Shelf and NBME exams are really good predictors of your score. They're also good at identifying areas where you need improvement.

The difficulty of the questions is similar, but there are some confounding factors, you gotta remember the step is much longer, and you'll be under the stress of knowing its importance...

i think that the step was harder than the nbne, but yes for some reason everybody i talk to tell me they did get the score 10 points+/- of what they got on the nbme exam..

Took the comp 6 times (2 with Ross and purchased all 4). I found that the comp underestimated (ranging from -7 to -39 points) my actual Step 1 Score. The best predictor was the Kaplan Full Length Simulated Exam. That was right on for predicting my score.
