We should sticky a thread about Wyckoff. Go somewhere else, do not go to this pit of a hellhole.

I second that. I think all these questions about Wyckoff can be summed up with one good sticky. There have been a ton of previous posts about the conditions there.
Again, Wyckoff is not the hospital to go to if you actually want to learn. There are not any good rotations at Wyckoff. Some are less bad, but none are good. If you are ok with that and just want an easy rotation then go for it. I hate to keep being so negative, but Wyckoff really is as bad as people are making it out to be and we are saying it so that you don't waste your time like we did.

Hopefully with the rumors about Ross buying all the spots, Wyckoff can be removed from AUC's list.

it looks like auc is going to fight for those spots (not like anyone should actually "want" them ).

Very interesting... the plaintiffīs names arenīt people I recognize as apart of the current MEAS administration staff. I couldnīt call up further details also why this is happening. We could assume it is for spots as it wouldnīt be too much of a farcry. However, I think AUC should just ask for all of the money back as apart of the settlement and look for other hospitals throughout the united states. Wykoff is a sorry state hospital with too many anecdotal stories of how crappy it is. There are too many other hospitals in the US to do electives at... donīt settle for the bare minimum at Wykoff.

From what I understand after my recent conversation with administration, they want to keep Wyckoff as it is just about the only way to guarantee back to back rotations for poor bustards like myself who start in January to make the same match year.

Wouldn't obtaining rotations at other hospitals accomplish the same thing? If students pretty much unanimously agree that a hospital is worthless, maybe they should concentrate their efforts on obtaining new spots instead of filing court documents to keep the bad ones. I know of at least two hospitals in the baltimore/washington region which are surely better than Wyckoff and also have students from other caribbean schools rotating.

There are economic considerations at play. Wyckoff is like the five and dime of clinical centers and the school charges the same in tuition regardless of where you do your rotations.

Something tells me this suit is not to keep the spots judging by the names

If anyone knows what the briefing synopsis is, please give the general gist of the situation. Try to remember the TOS guys... hate for this to get locked when this this good information for people to know so they can make wise and educated decisions about their medical education.

So glad to hear that AUC chooses the five and dime of clinical centers for its students.

If you want a great GI experience do it at LIJ. Excellent rotation, tons of teaching, the fellows were awesome. You basically spent the morning doing patient care and the afternoon observing/doing GI procedures
