Hi, can someone please post some real pictures of the campus currently?
Thanks
The best places to find "real" pictures of the campus are on the websites for UMHS (Wecome - UMHS (http://www.valuemd.com/adsadmin/adclick.php?bannerid=53&zoneid=0&source=&dest=http%3A%2F%2Fumhs-sk.org%2F)) and its sister school, IUON (Nursing School / Nursing University: International University of Nursing, St. Kitts (http://www.iuon.org)).
I have looked at both websites and the suggestions that I'm making show actual photos of the campus that the two schools share. If there are any minor differences between these photos and the campus itself, it is because the photos were taken earlier and the grounds now have significantly more flowers, trees and shrubs. The only significant difference is that these photos do not show the construction of the Gross Anatomy/Neuroscience Lab. It is being constructed in the northwest corner of the campus.
On the IUON website, please click on the following:
"Home page", "Mission Statement", "IT Support","Academics/ADN", "Campus Tech", "Campus Visit" and "Campus Photos".
On the UMHS site, see "Academics/campus". There are some photos that appear on both webistes but I have not written them twice.
These photos should give you a very good idea of the resources available to the students who study on campus. Of course, if you would like to visit St. Kitts and verify the photos for yourself, we would be more than happy to give you a tour!

I visited the campus in early december and the place is extremely nice compared to some of the other medical schools in the caribbean. It is very similar to the site photos.

Dumpy? Begers cant be choosers. And if your lookin at Caribbean schools your a begger my friend. (As am I) Thats aside, I really dont think dumpy is the right term at all. Compare it to other schools and I think you'll see what I mean.

I have visited a few Carib schools (I go to one right now), and this is far better equipped than all of them. This is even more modern than my undergrad school (a major university in the US West coast).
Do not take my word for it and just visit and see for yourself!

Why don't you take a trip to Dominica where Ross University is...you might find that five star accommodation your looking for (and for twice the tuition). Might also help you redefine the word "dumpy".

Why don't any of the pictures show up in the pictures forum for UMHS? I have submitted some and none of them are there. I would like to see some other pictures, hopefully newer pictures of the campus.
I noticedd the same thing when I looked there. I don't know who else might be able to help you other than Doc. I hate to always be bothering him but he seems to know all the answers to my ValueMD questions. You might PM him and see if he can help.

Mine also disappeard:confused:
Ever since our IT team did the last upgrade on the album, it seems to be set to require approval before being posted for public view. I suppose this is good to prevent porn and other such things, but it doesn't seem so necessary with our users. I'll try to get this requirement removed. In the meantime, I've gone ahead and approved the latest pictures, so now I see 5 from nikeman and 1 from skull in the UMHS album.
Hope this helps.
p.s. I'll try to remember to check to see if any new ones need approval until the settings are changed back by the IT team. But if time goes by and they haven't been approved, feel free to send me a PM and I'll take care of it.

Not at all!!!
The pics are fine.
I've worked in research at a fully funded US Medical School who's accomodations were questionable at best and the tuition is like 33k per annum not including expenses.
Bottem line is... can you learn in the environment. Do the professors/ instructors have knowledge to share and does the institution have an instructional method that resonates with you.
As an adult learner I'm over the "BLING" give my a facillitator that can guide me, shed a little light plus my laptop and I'm all good.:D

Cool. Thanks!
So is the first class comprised of 22 students? Or are there some folks missing?
Granted they may be the test bunch, but they are also very fortunate. Imagine the attention to detail that will be shown to insure that this new institution is a success. Imagine how proud these future docs will be 10 years from now when they look back and remember that they were the first.
Kudos to you all!
There are currently 22 students on island. We are expecting one or two more before the end of the week. Registration closes at 4:00PM on Friday.
