Hey current students! :p I would like to know what is the best way to get your personal items (like T.V., covers, etc....) shipped to the island! How did you ship your merchandise? Cheapest route? Best route? How long does it usually takes for your items to arrive to the islands? Where do you pick up your items? How do you get them back to your apartment? Please give me your feedback! Thanks.:D
Do a search before creating a thread for every topic that comes to mind. It really does go a long way: ValueMD Medical Schools Forum - Search Results (http://www.valuemd.com/search.php?searchid=1105966)

keep doing that and you might find yourself with a warning or two. The information has been posted many, many times.....the thread is still active...on the first page...it has information regarding cost, shipping time and where to get materials necessary for shipment...go read it...be enlightened!!

I always used Tropical Shipping. The procedure and relevant information comes with your intro packet, etc.
Sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude. Pretty sure consistently creating duplicate topics is a TOS violation. So, trying to help is all. And I agree with VSR. Wait until you get your packet. All the information you need is there. G'luck.

I don't recommend trying to ship a tv. You'll get a huge customs tax and it's not worth the effort. Most places have them anyway. Only bring what you need. You'll learn to make do without. It's all part of the experience.

VSR,
Is tropical shipping pretty reasonable as for as cost?
i think i use to pay about 150-200$ to ship 30cubic feet. I think teh cost depends on where you live. i use to bring everything to the dock where the ship would take off from.

Depending on where you are shipping, there are different ways. We are shipping via Tropical Shipping from our home. They arrange for pickup by truck and then ship by boat from miami. It is way cheaper than any other method. Use barrels or fiber drums if you have a lot of stuff. It is the cheapest way. You can buy the barrels from e-bay for really cheap or you can buy them from Uline. Good luck.

I just bought a used fiber barrel in PA for $10. Paid $80 for shipping will receive barrel in ~3 weeks. Dont forget about customs however...
