Since there are so many negatives posted as far as NY rotaions, I wanted to post some of the good rotations so that those who have an opportunity can take advantage. I don't want to scare people away from New York because there are some good sites there:
OB/Gyn- Lutheran Hospital0 I did it and it was great. The hours are not bad at all and they teach a lot as well. It's one of those rotations where you get out what you put in. The residents are busy so they won't hunt you down to teach you, but if you ask, they'll let you do a lot and they'll teach a lot as well
Peds- Flushing Hospital- This is also another good program. The attendings are great about teaching as well as the residents (again, they won't hunt you down, but just ask and they'll teach). Clinic gets a bit monotonous, but the floor experience is great. This is another one where you have to take the initiative to ask to do things and they'll let you do more.

Neurology at Brooklyn Hospital - FANTASTIC rotation. The attending there, Dr. A, is one of the most brilliant doctors I've ever seen. He'll pimp you on stuff you had no idea even existed, but is not negative towards you or anything. Nice simple hours, and you learn a lot. I learned more from this rotation in my first week than I did in six months at Wyckoff.

I rotated at both of those programs listed and I agree with the OP, that they are good rotations.
However, I though that the Peds Clinic at Flushing was good. I learned lot about basic kid management, granted I will never have to use it again, unless I have kids....
I know someone who did GYN Onc at Brooklyn Hospital and she thought it was a good rotation. Learned alot and the hours were not too bad.

I had a great experience at Staten Island in both OB and Medicine..the residents are great teachers and there are tons of lectures, conferences, etc.

I did Peds at Flushing and it was a good experience. OB/GYN from what I hear is ok academically, but you have to deal with a lot of attitudes and long hours. I'd recommend Lutheran for OB/GYN. I enjoyed it there and they let you do a lot.
