Hey i hear your school is doing review.Are you guys being taught to be medical doctors or you are being prepared just to pass usmle cos im told profs just hand out research papers and ask you guys to go and study by yourself. Med school is supposed to be a place where you are taught.I also hear that profs teach classes where they have family i wonder what the exams will be cos i suppose some students will have the exams before the day.

Med school is a place where you are taught to think, not be spoon fed. If you can't cope with out of class reading, you might as well forget it. We are scoring high 80's and 90's on USMLE's and in the end it's the scores that count towards what residency you can even interview for.

Well dont pretend you dont know for sure your genetics prof has her brother in that same class that she teaches. Then talk about been spoon fed the food has to be there first before you spoon feed but where there is no food what do you feed on? Grass like you are doing now? Your admin is just ripping off students. we pay to be taught and not to be handed out with unreasonable research work that has no meaning.

If you dont understand the concept of research based paper then you will never understand how to answer research based questions. Genetic research is becoming more and more HY. I was talking to a student today from MD-II and they really like the Teacher and her methods of teaching, but she is hardcore, i think the admin wants to start making sure you understand genetics by the time you leave here.

I heard they want to make all those who failed genetics and those that got lower then 60% to repeat the course or take a exam. :eek:

self study??well once a semester might be understandable,but basic science is just basis for your medical education.I dont think we need to be research stuff, there is enough information that you need to understand and MEMORIZE already,why waste time researching it.If you want to go into medical research,why not wait till your done with ur MD?

It is great to hear that the majority and the best of ASUSM students feel that they are getting their money's worthy.

I was talking to some students from Ross U. And they clearly expressed that if they had to transfer, they would rather go to ASUSM than Windsor. And these are very smart students from Ross. This explains it all.

While ASUSM has a lot to do to improve things in general, this can be said to all universities including the well established ones. There will always be room for improvement. That is why all universities have their own breeds of complainers. While some complaints are genuine and go get genuinely addressed others do come from those with marginal performance and routine complainers. In either cases, they are entitled to expression of their opinion...it is just a health thing to do..and it is expected.

ASUSM certainly has lots of room for improvement but the standard of education is NOT compromised everyone knows that. And the proof is the academic performance the graduates have in the steps. Not students would go to ASUSM ifthey performed poorly during the steps. In fact, all applicants want to know how a med-school is performing during steps among s few other things. ASUSM has already sent waves to the world, we know that. The world now knows that the Commonwealth of Dominica has two great universities. One is older than the other. But the fact is ASUSM is making it big academically take or leave it is here to stay. Intelligent applicants are not interested in unsubstantiated rants, hearsay, and gossip. They look for facts like intellectual performance of students.

Well as it goes with rumors about buying exams there is no need for that in this school because they are given away for free to selected people, such as a guy named H. As for being expelled from this school, there is no chance....lool I know there was a physical fight in one of the classes and the parties involved faced no consequences.. and that was infront of the teacher... this is because the owners of the school do not want to lose any tuition fees from any students.. unfortunately the few good students in this school have fallen victim to money and mind games of others and I suggest for them to leave this school asap... anywhere would be a better choice..

swordofgidion, if infact your claim is true about 7 individuals threatening a single individual infront of the acting dean...then how come the dean did not take any further action? and regarding your prison stories i believe you know what you are talking about maybe based on past experiences but even in third world countries you need to prove something before further action and you cant try to darken other ppl's image with nonsense stories.. i hope if there is any kind of violence or threat in this school to be solved peacefully by the help of ppl that arent intellectually challenged such as the person in question...

Well since this H guy has gotten all the exam why didnt he ace all his exams....u should know how the class ur talking about did as a whole, so guys stop this B.S. ur more than welcome to post ur complaints about this school, Constructive Criticism is always welcomed, but stop posting nonsense just because of wat u heard as a rumour, as far as the fight goes, it was more like a 2 guys showing eachother, no one got hurt and no one complained, big deal if u really cared so much about the fight u should have complanied to the dean, so dont try to blow things out of proportion... fortunately the good students in this school can think for themselves and dont get caught up in all the B.S. they care about their marks and c how well prepared they r for taking the step... if u feel like allsaints is not for u plz do leave, u dont have to worry about transcripts, all u would need is ur undergrad, since most schools dont accept other schools credits, dont believe me check the other forums, if u do find one am sure u will eventually get ur transcripts, cause no school has the rite to deny ur transcript... i wish u all the luck @ ur new school...next time before u apply to a school plz research and know wat ur getting ur self into...by coming to a school u dont like u've only wasted ur time and money!

Isn't the performance of the school in USMLE an indicator of the academic standard that this school is upholding?
