Hi guys,

I recently got accepted for fall 08 class and have to send in the deposit in a weeks time now. Meanwhile, I am waiting on my new mcat score and hoping to get into DO school of my choice (have my own reasons to choose DO)..
I was wanting to know if anyone has ever tried to extend their deadline to send in the deposit money, and how the admin generally responds to it.

Thanks a bunch!

I need to extend the deadline for approximately 3 weeks. From my new mcat score I will pretty much have an idea if I should go ahead and definitely secure my spot in ross.

Ofcourse, meanwhile I do not want to loose my spot at Ross. Quite a dilemma.

Being a poor med student, I understand money can be tight. Regardless of where you go, med school is likely going to cost you a small fortune. At last count, through 5 semester, I think I have about $120k in loans. I'm thinkin' I'm going to try to cut my loans down some to try to stay south of $200k by graduation. I don't know if that's going to be possible.

Anyways, the deposit is $500 I think. You could call the school and ask them to give you a couple of weeks to come up with the money. If they say yes, great. If they say no, you have two options. Pay the money and risk losing it if you decide not to go. That's a bummer. Or don't pay them and lose your spot. That's a bigger bummer.

What I'm trying to say is in the grand sceam of things, $500 isn't alot of money versus the $200k you'll have in debt wether you go to school at Ross or somewhere else. Consider it a cost of doing business.

Good luck with your MCAT scores. I hope they're satisfactory. If not, at least at this point you still have Ross to fall back on.

Yes you are absolutely right. If I look at a bigger picture, 500 bucks may seem a very small price to pay for peace of my mind. I was just trying create a better probability for myself to not loose that money if I dint have to. But then, I guess its a gamble at this point. Will definitely try to call Ross and see what they say. Will keep you guys posted if anyone else is in a similar situation.

Thanks a lot folks!

I really don't think Ross is going to give your spot to anyone else. The classes here are freaking HUGE! Just a little bit short of 500 students per semester when you first start out. I don't think they really care when you join, so long as you have money and are willing to pay. So long as you have a pulse - you're in. Heck, you might not even need a pulse so long as you got money...

Just to let people in similar situation know, I emailed the office and they were okay to extend the deadline by few weeks.
