I was wondering which of the electives at Wykoff has the least work and hours involved? The ones available are GI, Nephrology, Critical Care and Endocrinology. Anyone have any insight on this? I am almost done with rotations and have the "fourth year blues" and am lazy.

From reading on here, sounds like you don't do much of anything at any of the Wykoff electives. Why does anyone go there if it sucks so much?

Having done all my rotations at the various hospitals we have in NY, I can say that Wyckoff is not as bad as everyone says it is. They really do see the pathology that other hospitals see, and have a lot of patient diversity. As for learning, if you are pro-active, show interest, and ask questions, you can really get a lot out of it.
Wyckoff does have a lot of students, and hopefully that will change in the future. But, if you end up there, it is really not the end of the world. You will still make it and be on the same page as everyone else at the end.
Anyone done the Preventive medicine elective here? How was it?

Just to let you know, you won't learn much while you're there, but to answer your question, I hear Radiology, Neuro, Anesthesia, & Cardio are ridiculously easy there and you won't be working a full day....ever.....unless they've changed things around. FP is also another easy elective. That was my one and only rotation at that hospital, and then I refused to return for further rotations because I learned nothing and the hospital and staff were awful.

QUESTION: I am interested in taking neurology and radiology elective at wyckoff because i heard the hours are short and that you actually do learn during those hrs. Did any past student from NYS who either did neuro or radio at wyckoff have any trouble with NYS Medical Board or getting residency/medical license in NYS? I'm not sure if these electives fall under the "green" book status or if this status is even important for NYS. Appreciate any input.
