To any users who have taken their Step 1, just wanted to know if the anatomy present in First Aid and Kaplan is sufficient for the boards or if i should be supplementing with additional reading. My anatomy is weak and the practice Q's can get discouraging. Thanks for your time

NO you do not need any anatomy. Human body = low yield in medicine!!

As far as step 1 goes, study the subjects you are weak at and don't spend too much time on the subjects that you excel at. As far as anatomy goes, it is not that high yield for step 1, but in answer to your question, First Aid is enough.

Neuro-anatomy, CT/MRI of abdomen/pelvis/head are pretty high yield in my opinion. There is not too much basic anatomy like in the basic science exams. But I would go ahead and study it hard anyway, you will definitely need it for your surgery rotation.

Me too I think, but I probably missed both of them because I suck at anatomy. Now, I still have to refer to Netter's for basic things. Wish I would have learned it better the first time!!;)

Speaking of anatomy, is the gross anatomy lab in good shape? Approx how many students per cadaver? Just curious.

the lab itself is in good shape, but the cadavers are a bit overcrowded. We had 5 fresh cadavers i think for 66 students and also 5 old, already dissected cadavers. So youll basically have to split your group of 12 students into minigroups that dissect on different days while the other memebers look at stuff on the old bodies. I do hear tho that the lab should be expanded soon but who knows when thats gonna happen.
