I am here in pre-med , make sure everyone brings a printer and at least 2 packages of paper and lots of ink, I have only been here 2 weeks and have used over 500 pages of paper, and onto second set of ink (I like to see the slides in color and print them out 4 to a page). The kids in my class that did not bring printers are paying 20 cents for each page, or 50 cents EC.

I highly recommend buying an hp laser printer from Best Buy or CompUSA. It costed about $150 if i remember correctly and the ink lasts approx. 3000 - 4000 pages. Very light and can easily fit your suitcase. Good luck!!

here is an even cheaper one Brother HL-2170W Laser Printer at StaplesŪ (http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/StaplesProductDisplay?storeId=10001&jspStoreDir=Staples&productId=205516&cmSearchKeyword=714526&fromUrl=home&cmArea=SEARCH&catalogId=10051&langId=-1) and you can opt for the "pick up in store" so you just go pick it up if there is one close to you.

I've been accepted to the Sep 08 pre-med 1 session - 20/f/ny
I was wondering if anyone could recommend which would be better, both cost and efficiency wise - the ferry from St. Kitts or the plane?

Hey,
Why are u doing your pre-meds in the carribbean. Do you have a better chance of getting into carribbean med schools if u do your pre-med there.
I am considering carribbean med schools in the future and I am curious.

well...im gunna do it there because I just graduated from uni this year and dont feel like waisting another year doing all the courses here and then taking the chance of applying and not getting in...but if you do it there, and you get an overall GPA of 3/70% (i think it is) you automatically get put in med school...i just think its a better chance of getting in..plus I dont have the best of grades therefore doing pre-med there is another way around to get in with, my stellar grades..lol

Hey Medman05,
What uni did you go to and what did u study? How much is the pre-med going to cost. I see u are from Toronto just like me. How are u going to fund your academics?Did you get any loan i.e, osap?

in order to advance from pre-med to med you need a 3.0 which is an 80%. Hope you have a good Chemistry backround for example in Pre-med one; 6 out of 17 people got a 70 and below on the last exam (exam six) and on exams 3 and 4, seven people got under seventy (out of 18). Under seventy is failing. There is no curve. FYI

hey nelly...actually when I talked to Robert McKean he said that a 3.0 was a 70...and your overall average needs to be 70 in order to move one from pre-med to med....
and for funmilayo: I went to yorku...just graduating this summer in health and society... all of premed (2 semesters) will cost around 17000 to 20000 including tuition, dorms, food and some missilaneous things (possible airline tickets)...im estimating...well to be honust, my dad is helping me for the first couple of semesters (considering I get in to med..lol..) and then I will be applying for loans where ever I can after that...lol

So, which is which ? Nelly is also in premed program in September 08, what really is 3.0 -- 80% or 70% ?
The grading scheme on the MUA website does not specify for which the scheme applies, but it is reasonable to assume it is for MD program since it says 70% is required to pass for both basic sciences and clinical sciences right on top of the table.
Which makes one think if 3.0 that is required for premed to move on automatically to MD is actually 80% or 70%. Anyone?
