Immunologic:

Thanks for your sentiments, and I passed them on personally to Dr. Ross later this a.m.--UMHS will indeed be opening in January 2008, and the government of St. Kitts is presently applying for WHO recognition and listing for the University; our Executive Dean is in contact with ECFMG, and we are in the process of establishing clinical affiliations with ACGME-approved teaching hospitals in the U.S.

This is to you Dr. Ross!
Your vision, your will and determination has enabled many realise their dream to become a Medical Doctor(s). You withstood bashing and marginalization that those that follow suit have to be ready to withstand in order to realize their dreams and goals. You have set the standards that those that follow you, am sure, must live up to or even surpass in order to be recognized by the world. You have demontrated what intellectual endurance can achieve and that one does not have to be stuck in a given mindset to make it big in life. Your resilience and mental stamina will always be appreciated and recognized with those that appreciate change for the betterment of others.

Dr Ross, Sir, I believe UHMS will grow to be a great school, I have now doubt. And that being a NEW SCHOOL, so to speak, is not at all a threat to any student. You have again shown those of them that feel threatened by new establishments that life continues regardless of the schepticisms about new schools. And those of them that take advantage of such progress, do change their lives once and for all.

I salute you Dr Ross and those that have followed suit fearlessly. You are real intellectual heros. You are changing the future for the betterment of mankind. Those that succumb to fear and fear mongers do fail, guaranteed.

:congrats:

actually, i dont believe that comes with a guarentee. and being a new school is a less than favorable situation for a student. its an unknown variable. Wishful thinking does not get you an MD or we'd all be grads from the best US schools.

anyway i hope it is successful, at least for the betterment of the owners pocketbook and a few decent students in not for all mankind.

yours in schepticisms,
Stephew

"for the betterment of mankind" is not synonymous to "for the betterment of ALL mankind". And the significant difference is not in the font, rather in the quantifier.

Even better, is what one is capable of doing with one's MD degree. What matters is what we do not where we graduated from. The assumption that a few people may make is mix the instituion and the individual graduate. Most of the public however, does not. They ask: Is she/he a good Dr? Periode. They want to to be seen by "the good doctor" Once in a fairy moon will they want to know where you graduated from. And if one is a bad doctor and being out smart by the other doctor. Then cryout and market onself by using the institution's name. Which, often time, instituions don't like associating themselves with the bad doc.

Beside, it should not surprise anyone that the good doc happens to be an IMG or the other. As some of these grads, including me (if I may avoid being modest) have high GPAs in undergraduate studies and with solid background in both arts and biological sciences prior to joining IMG Med Schools. Is it wishfull thinking? Certainly not in my dreams.

The world needs nothing less than "good doctor" only.
