Hi I am planning to apply to MUA’s pre med program for the May 2008 semester. I have 53 credits now. I was wondering if it is hard to get a residency if you do not get a 4 yr degree does anyone know if this is true. Do the organic and general chemistry classes that I’ve taken count towards the 60 credit requirement, I was told since ill be taking them again in the pre med program that they don’t

1) Most states have a 60-90 unit undergrad requirement for licensing. Those units must be from a us-accredited college and no state is willing to accept pre-med units from a caribbean college. The best choice is for you to finish your education in your public college first because it will save you money and help you to fufill that 60-90 unit requirement. You are on 53 units already, you should spend 2 more years finishing the undergrad instead of jumping into some premed program that costs more money
2) residency and licensing are two different animals. Residency has the lowest amount of requirements because every hospital needs cheap labor. Licensing is different from state to state and it has the most amount of judicial restrictions.

In reality, us does not regonize credits you took outside of the us school ssytem. However, if you are so brave to test the system, then you should go ahead and take your chances. Remember one thing, you can always go back and retake your courses after you received your md diploma.

here's the good point...
since ive posted my last messege.... i called the michigan boards and found out they dont look at your undergradute studies at all !!!! so it dont matter.. its if ur medical skool fullfills the certain classes in basic science and certain weeks in rotation at the rigth cites ! and good boards , and youl be all set..
