I dunno if you guys noticed but the AUA website recently added Brooklyn Hospital Center to our list of affiliates. This place has a whole bunch of ACGME accredited clerkships:

I wish they had this when I was still scheduling cores :(, but it's a great new addition. Also, I think this is the first teaching program in Pediatrics that AUA is affiliated with.

I hope that we keep adding hospitals like this in the future.

wow nice! i checked this morning and saw they added a hospital but i couldn't figure out which one it ws. this is a great addition. i think when i applied, they had 15 hospitals (now 20) and Sree can attest, back when he was in basic science, they had probably under ten.

Another example for many of you out there why AUA is on the move. I am VERY pleased to hear that we got Brooklyn Hospital. I am from Brooklyn and really did not want to go to Wycoff Heights to do anything. If anyone wants to know anything about Brooklyn Hospital or the area or anything, let me know. I know the hospital well also, I worked there as well as many other hospitals in NY.
Also, it's awesome to hear that we have a hospital to go to that has all those ACGME certified cores. Thanks for the info Sree!!!

Who cares? This hospital contains the only ACGME-accredited programs in Ob/Gyn, Peds, and Surgery we are affiliated with in New York. Even if the teaching is horrible, it has to be better than the osteopathic/"blue book" rotations.

In order to be accredited by the ACGME, a program is required to have a certain number of lectures per week, conferences, etc. etc. Also, the ACGME requires all of the department heads at the hospital to be board certified etc. Non-ACGME accredited programs don't have to meet these requirements, and the ones that I have observed, do not.

From what I understood the Surgery/Peds&Ob/gyn were all green at Wyckoff. Surgery is blue as well. Thats what I was told at the orientation for Wyckoff. But have tried looking them up on ACGME and can't find the affiliation. I will ask Julius and see what he says.

surg, peds, ob are "green through affiliation" at Wyckoff, which means that they are greenbook rotations on paper but are not associated with an in-house residency program.

surgery through St. John's Queens Hospital Surg Residency Program
peds through Brooklyn Hospital Peds Residency Program
ob through St. John's Queens Hospital OB/GYN Residency program

if you want to verify this information through the acgme.org site, use the link in my signature, too tired to type it out
