Can I buy this stuff on the island? I want to bring as little as possible. Also, someone recommended Netter's Atlas and some histology text; anyone got any opinions as to what really helps as a supplementary textbook?

Will Saba mail me a list of items I need to bring? List of required books, perhaps?

You should buy whatever supplies you need before coming to Saba. If I'm not mistaken, it is recommended that you obtain your own supplies in the student handbook, correct me if I'm wrong.

And the required text books are also in the student handbook in your acceptance package, so don't worry.

good luck

The supplies needed include gloves, scrubs, and alot of other simple stuff. If you are not planning on coming back to Toronto, then you should keep in mind that you will need the required supplies for the later semesters as well.

Hope this helps, and good luck with the police letter.

You really won't need a stethoscope until about 4th semester. If you need one while you're here, you can probably borrow one or buy one from a student who is leaving.

The anatomy lab has a great deal of equipment still that is shared through the semester. Bring consumables like scalpel blades, gloves and at least two pairs of scrubs.

GO BUY NETTER. It is not a "suggested" book, it is the only book when you are taking Anatomy (and many later courses). It will be the one book you will keep and never sell. i also suggest you buy the BRS fro Anatomy and the Mini-Moore for Anatomy. It's a smaller version of the Standard Keth Moore textbook. It is much more manageable and will give you what you need for the course.

I believe they are now using Bloom and Fawcett for Histology. Check the website www.saba.edu. You can really use just about any good Histo textbook. A good Histo Atlas like Wheater's might be helpful as well, and the BRS for Histo is pretty good as well.

Best of Luck!

I looked at the handbook for the first time since I've received. It's pretty informative! I hope they don't change the booklist anytime soon :?
I heard Netters is amazing, so I'm getting that book regardless.

Thanks everyone for your input. Best of luck to all of you!
