PS. 186 isnt bad.. you can still end up in a great residency program... CS really is just a pass or fail thing so it wont help out.. but you could try pulling your score on step1...that would definitely help. good luck

don't worry. I also got the same score for step 2 ck...and i had a 2 month study for it...I advise you to study more on the step 1. Good luck...

you should take step one after basic sci and save step 2 etc for later even if allowed to do otherwise. there is a reason its patterned this way. all you've done is get further away from the step one. 6 months is a heck of a long time to study for it and if you had reviewed immediate after the basic sciences you'd be in better shape. for others, i HIGHLY advice doing them in order. Otherwise you tend to just delay your progress and get mediocre scores on the boards. For the OP, foucs on the step one. You'll probably have to explain that step two score to some PDs but you can't look back. Just focus on doing EXCEPTIONALLY well on the step one and good luck.

Why did you take Step 2 CK before Step 1 CK?

Step I is basic sciences and usually if you do below you want on Step I people utilize Step 2 to pull themselves up before residency applications. I think the consensus is that Step 2 is viewed more indicative of residency potential and than Step I. Step 2 is much more diagnostic, clinical kowledge based and applied knowledge things that are important in a good resident.

As mentioned before Step 2 CS is pass/fail and thus only hurts possibly if you fail, otherwise it's a moot point and just jumping thru hoops that aren't particularly difficult.
