Upon request to Federation of State Medical Boards regarding ASUM's status the following reply was received:-

All ASUM graduates are eligible to practice medicine in the United States but must have the following:-
[(j)] (l) [Any applicant having] An applicant, who has graduated from a medical school on or after July 1, 2003 and has received a medical degree from a medical school which is not eligible for and not accredited by the [Liaison Committee on Medical Education] LCME or the [American Osteopathic Association] AOA [on or after July 1, 1985] shall [also demonstrate successful completion of a three-year post-graduate training program accredited by the American Council on Graduate Medical Education, the American Osteopathic Association, or any other equivalent group or agency recognized by the Board of Medical Examiners.] demonstrate to the Board, through the submission of documentation, that after receiving a medical degree the applicant has completed and received academic credit for at least two years for post-graduate training in a program accredited by the ACGME, the AOA. or any other equivalent group or agency which the Board, upon review, has determined has comparable standards, and has a signed contract for a third year of post-graduate training in a program accredited by the ACGME, the AOA or any other equivalent group or agency which the Board, upon review has determined has comparable standards. At least two of the three years of post-graduate training shall be:
1. In the same field; or
2. In different fields, if when considered together, the post-graduate training fields would be credited toward the criteria for certification by a single specialty board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the AOA or any other equivalent group or agency which the Board, upon review, has determined has comparable standards.

So, those of you going to ASUM, make sure your do your residency at any of the following medical center/schools in US, listed here:- ACGME Accredited Program and Institutional Listing - Public Access (http://www.acgme.org/adspublic/default.asp)

AND YES, ASUM GRADUATES ARE ELIGIBLE TO PRACTICE MEDICINE ANYWHERE IN US & ITS TERRITORIES STATING THAT THEY MEET THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS AND YES IT INCLUDES CALIFORNIA.

1. DO not cut and paste one paragraph from who knows where without reference and say that a school is "Good to Go for all 50" each state has it's own laws and rules, and unless you do what I have done (Taken the time to read each one) its hard for us to accept your comment. TEXAS for example requires a test now for Schools not on the list with them.

2. California does not License anyone who graduated from a school not on the list they have, even if you are licensed in another state.

3. DO not try to do the schools work, explain what you know to 100% true and factual, if you do not know then do not post conjecture.

I called the Board of Med Examiners in Cali and they said as long as you are licensed to practice medicine previously in a sister state, you are eligible to sit for exam in Cali stating that you have w/o interruption practiced on your own for 3 yrs with any problems etc.. and ALSO completed three or more years of education/training at ACGME accredited schools..

well i guess you dont know what your talking about, CALI will only licence those who come from the schools on there lists, please man stop it, stop lieing to ur self, stop leiing to others too, ASUM doesn thave cali, nor does 80% of school on VALUEMD.

no clinicals, no residency, no licensure, if u dont come from a school on there list.
