hi guys, getting off the topic being discussed but since this is labeled clinical questions n answers...and there is no bronx lebanon thread..i figure i post it here...
anyone been there and if so, how was your experience? ....any tips on driving/parking/living/(dealing w/psycho's walking around) would be highly appreciated! I plan on driving since I live 30 miles away but it took me close to 1.5 hours to make it the other day. Any input, highly appreciated!

Sounds about right. That's all the equipment you need for about any rotation. Each patient room should have an oto/opthalmoscope.

probably one of the best rotations we have.

the hours suck- 8 hrs a day. there's some downtime when you can read a book.

but you get to do everything, if you want.
although it's technically not your job, you can practice your bloodwork.

admit pts, write h&p's, soaps, come up with differentials and tx's.
it's good practice, and the most important part of this rotation.

and there's free breakfast and lunch at the 2 hospital sites.

residents are extra friendly. and attendings are more than willing to guide you. very easy to get along with the docs.
As with any hospital, there's a rivalry between some of the nurses and the residents, and some of the nurses will be donkeys to you.

takes 1hr 10mins to get to hospital from Queens by subway. not a bad commute.

Are you kidding me? 8 hours a day is great. For surgery, (I know it's different) I was there 13-15 hours a day + call q4. Almost done with medicine...I've had some 8 hour days, but mostly 10+. 8 hours would be a great day.

Totally agree with Jeep Guy.
Surgery for me was 11-12 hours daily with q 4 call.

Medicine was 7am till 5 pm or so. The hours when you were on call depends on your resident/team though.

Oh, by the way, Jeep Guy when do you start Rads? I am doing an Interventional Radiology rotation there in 2 weeks and I know one other SMU student is doing Diagnostic Rads there next week. Let me know.

Can anyone provide any input as to where we are supposed to report for the first day of a family practice elective (not core) at Bronx Lebanon.
Also, any sort of special paperwork or anything like that that we need to do the first day wit HR or the dept of family medicine?

Also, any tips as to which clinical site/attending is more lax and laid back would be greatly appreciated in a PM.

SMU no longer has the FM core rotation at this site.

Ross has again taken all the spots away from SMU.
