View Full Version : TERI has lost its mind

The TERI loan people have gone beserk in their demands for documentation that doesn't exist, and won't even consider using common sense, because their "rules require it".

Here's an example: you're applying for your third round of creditworthy, no-cosigner loan. You've had no trouble in the past. Suddenly, they demand proof of income when the terms of a creditworthy loan specifically state that you don't need that. You explain that your proof of income is their loans, which you have been living off since starting school.

Sorry, the rules demand proof of income. But there is none. But the rules say you must show it. But you don't have it. ..... Get it?

Here's another example: they now demand that you show your tax filings for the last two years. You politely explain that you don't have tax filings because you were not required to file under the filing guidelines. But the rules demand that you provide it. But the forms don't exist, you repeat. Sorry, you have to provide it. ... Are you getting the picture?

Have you ever tried emailing TERI customer service? No matter what the nature of your inquiry, you will get a reply demanding that you provide them with a loan ID. But you don't have a loan yet, you just want to know about the weather in Massachusetts. Sorry, no inquiries are answered without a loan ID.

You call them up and demand to speak with a supervisor. Are you kidding? You have to deal with the obnoxious teenager on his/her first job, flushed with the sense of power and domination over your career. You kiss butt or lose your loan. You persist in asking for a supervisor, and they hang up.

TERI is an organization of mindless automatons driven my mantras dictated by a computer. It's time for the med school world to abandon TERI before they abandon us. There is a listing of a few dozen potential lenders in the loans forum of VMD; I'm working down the list to find more reasonable lenders. Any replies from folks who may have done this already would be most helpful.

Salutations "fossildoc":

Wow, sounds like you've had some rough times with Teri. Why don't you switch to another loan provider such as HealthXpress student loans? I have been using them for the past 2.5 years with no problems whatsoever. Good luck with your situation. Ciao.

HealthXpress requires a co-signer, which I don't want and don't need.

Thanks for the advice, anyway.
