It seems as if there is any endless amount of hype...of drama concerning some of the larger Caribbean schools, while Spartan avoids all of that and focuses on...learning an educating Docs? Is this fair to say, since I am basing this hypothesis off of an internet forum? Cheers

How did you come to this conclusion? How does "hype" detract from education? Are you suggesting the larger schools are taking away resources from educating to put it into advertisement or some such?

nah, larger schools put their money into more useless things like infrastructure, having a campus that doesn't predate the parachute pant and delorean, hiring faculty that taught at US med schools, and other extravaganses like attaining and maintaining stafford loans, california approval and getting on the texas approved list.

joking aside spartan is not a gem but its not to be discouinted either. thery have very very few grads compared to the rest but many are highky successfu

thanksfully with these forums, not much is "hidden", gems or warts. so i have to say that in this regard, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, youre looking at a duck. The school got its loans cancelled, every time.
The school was threatened by the Prime Minister with closure, as its ill repute was costing the island.

Pls do not be in denial, its not a hidden gem, its a open sewer well.

Pls research the archives.Spartan graduates have always feared that the accredition may be withdrawn.

Most of the GOOD COMMENTS on this forum is by the school owners and desperate students, who have invested a lot into this mistake of a school.

Watch your back!!

If it weighs more than a duck, it's a witch.

Spartan is a school for students interested in low tuition and quick education. It's 9 semesters long, whereas others are 10 or more semesters.

It's a school for students who are prepared to work hard and do everything themselves.

It's a school that has been around for 27+ years.

It's a school that appeals to a certain niche of students.

Hmmm, I sound like a marketing agent for this school...

the good comments not always comes from school officials,I researched this school and I do have good comments about it,the so many individuals who are holding very prestigious positions at Columbia,Cornell, Vanderbilt and Baylor are not what you called "hardly disperate".
forums such as this is exciting to basic sciences nervous students and even few state reps but I can assure you that after basic sciences and during residencies and except for one and only one state :no one really cares if you went to St X or St Y school, what will differentiate you from any other international student is your exams and work history,if I decide on an applicant based on country or degree of origin then I am discriminating and unfit to be a leader, basic sciences origin discrimination in an applicant who excelled in everything is discrimination no matter how others tries to justify it!!!!

based on current conditions and rules, I do suggest choosing AUC,SGU,AND ROSS as first choice but this school has graduated hundreds of successful alumni regardless of what anyony tries to do to deny that fact......alumni who make it to top positions must have good medical foundation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

personal opnion.

my point isnt about spartan per se. merely the concept of "hidden gems" among "hype". its the wrong forumlation to look at things.

kind of. i think spartan is a choice but based on the stagnant nature of its progress it is not a choice for most. i think the students that make it out of a school like spartan are not only super motivatated but also read and studey very well on their own. people from there have said that the teaching is subpar and poorly organized in the past so yes they have a good foundation but the key is that they got there on their own from the start at a place like this.

the vast majority of us benefit greatly from being taught by profs who are experienced at teaching US med students and guide you through the material and test you based on that so i don't think a school like spartan is for most students but it is a choice since it has been around a long time and not likely to close, unlike all the recent experiments

The alumini, not withstanding, the school could not save its loans. And the threat of it self destructing is REAL.Not exactly a hidden gem asiandoc.

I have always heard that it was bad management that prevented Spartan from reaching the success of the big 3 (without fed loans and Cali, I cannot say Saba makes 4). I think that is sad as the school has almost been around as long as SGU and AUC. Very, very sad.....

Just to make it clear - Saba does have Cali approval; it's federal loans that they lack.
