i was just wondering once you submit your application, does everyone get a phone interview or has anyone been denied or not accepted into Xaiver???
i doubt anyone ever gets denied!
I wish I realized that almost everyone got accepted, I would not have worried so much when I was applying.

Being a new school the chances of getting accepted is close to 100%, so i'm sure you will receive a notice in the mail soon. From what i've heard, acceptance for most people is a very lengthy process so I wouldn't worry.

Eventhough this is off topic of the original thread subject I will try to shed some light. I think what you are asking is what states would you be eligible for licensure in. Remember licensure and residency are two different things. Some states require >90 undergrad credits from an approved school (not carib premed). Some states also require all ACGME clinicals and residency (greenbook). Some states have limits on the number of times one can fail any parts of the usmle step exams.
For more info refer to the federation of state medical boards (FSMB (http://www.fsmb.org/directory_smb.html)) click on the link for each state in question.
To my limited knowledge, as a graduate from Xavier you would be eligible for licensure in the majority (prob around 40) of states except the following:
CA (and any states using the CA approved school list)
TX (case by case basis)
FL (case by case basis)
NY (if u do >12 wks rotations in state from a non-approved school)
PA (case by case basis)
and i'm sure there are others... these I believe are the main states in question in most carib schools new and old.
Again the best advice is to call the medical board of the state you are aiming for and make sure you follow their guidelines, and not what any potential school tells you.

Ola IMGR,
About NY, if a person does his/her rotations in say GA, can he be licensed in NY & NJ?

If one does their clinical rotations in GA and then does residency in a state other than NY (being from a non-approved NY school) then I believe you would be eligible for licensure in NY state. I'm not familiar with what NJ guidelines are, but I assume they are similar to NY state. NJ seems to be always in the shadow of NY state (banning smoking in bars), but that is a different topic. Again, the best way to get info is from the state boards...

Can I do residency in NY?Yes - but if you are from a non approved school you can not be licensed there after residency. There are tons of links on ValueMD to the NY website as that this is a common question. Do a search to find out if your school is approved. I know the last time I checked most of the lessor schools were not approved. AUA was the fastest school to get approval in NY from start up. It does cost more to get a school approved. You need a certified anatomy lab, NBME shelf exams and approved profs.
