Student Government Association along with University's Administration will welcome new students and provide on-site assistance after the first few days on the island. Orientation is scheduled for September 10th at 10.00 am.

The one day of Orientation will challenge and encourage you to find out more about yourself, meet new people, as well as explore the campus and surrounding area.

Your participation at new student orientation means that you are indeed serious about your education and meeting some very important goals in your life. At CMU, we are committed to supporting your dreams and career goals.

The information provided in this orientation is intended to highlight some useful information. There is however, much more information which you need to know and strongly encourage you to become familiar with the Student Handbook and the Semester Class Schedule. These two documents will provide you information necessary to guide you in becoming a better informed student, understanding the CMU's program offerings, available support services, academic policies and expected student conduct.

Our goal is to provide you the best written information to enable you to make informed and factual decisions. However, we welcome any questions you may have. Please feel confident in seeking clarification from University administration when you are not clear of the programs and rules. We appreciate the opportunity to serve your educational needs and wish you the best success at Caribbean Medical University.

The best written information .... please. Will you provide a charter that shows you can confer the degree of M.D., not just undergrad degrees via a tenous link with CIU. Maybe you could show them IMED, Faimer, of ECFMG listings ... oh wait....I'll save you the effort..."were in the process of obtaining that material...yada yada". If anyone there makes any kind of an "informed decision" it will be to run away from this place to real medical school. Best of luck with the open house.

Yes, we will but I dont think it would matter to you, since you dont believe it anyway.

Seems like you cant.

If you could, your charter would have been posted onto your accreditation website.

If you could, IMED would have listed your school by now.

If you could, you would not say you "will".

Sure I would. I beleive in EVIDENCE based medicine. I beleived you when you said you would give us the charter on aug 10th, then we get some kind of letter saying you can apply for the right to confer the undergrad degree (something about CIU also, utter nonsense). So, your credibility with me is less than perfect. Provide real evidence, then maybe I will be able to turn a blind eye to all the deception you have shown in the past. This school upsets me for a simple reason, it is designed to rip off the children of immigrants from india/pakistan. As an indian I know many parents who force their kids into medical school even though they have no business going in the first place. It little sanjay has 2.3 and a 15 on the MCAT he needs to reconsider his career plans. CMU feeds on the intense desire these parents have of sending their kids to any med school. CMU preys on this for financial gain without providing proof of any educational credibility. But these fly by night operations take credibility away from those who go the the "big 4", schools filled with people who atleast have a shot at residency and licensure.

Now now, easy on the guy, the wording could just be a unconscious usage of the verb due to the OP using the same verb in the previous post.

Let's see what type of documentation he will provide... let's give him, say.... 1 week? That should be more than adequate. He is a busy school official trying to organize orientation.

I agree and also from this blog, it says they started with 12 then went down to 6 and now claiming a bogus number of expectant students.
dj $iva melbourne/ los angeles: Another Somewhat Potentially "Big" Week! (http://djsiva.blogspot.com/2007/08/another-somewhat-potentially-big-week.html)
"First, we had like 12 students and then it went down to like 6 students, and now we are getting like 33 more"

Another blog says they are basically not expecting any students at all.
dj $iva melbourne/ los angeles: Mystery Surrounds C.M.U.! (http://djsiva.blogspot.com/2007/08/mystery-surrounds-cmu.html)
" There are all sorts of rumors flying around the med school here regarding the incoming class in September. Basically, the rumor is that essentially there is no incoming class…lol!"

My impression is that most if not ALL of the 6 current students are not even US-based students.

You should POSTPONE/CANCEL ALL upcoming semesters UNTIL you GET the proper accreditation, IF NOT you are just taking money from people FRAUDULENTLY.
Does that not make sense to you at all, dang!

There is a lot of truth in what is written by Finishing fifth here. CMU is in this way following in the footsteps of its parent school, and is very much like many of the schools in the islands own by members of this ethnic group. This phenomenon is something that I have noticed myself at several of these schools.

It boggles the mind how they can treat their own like this.

The solution to the matter is simple.

ALL PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS SHOULD AVOID / BOYCOTT CMU UNTIL IT CAN PROVE THAT IT HAS GOT ITS ACT TOGETHER.

ALL PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS SHOULD AVOID / BOYCOTT CMU UNTIL IT CAN PROVE THAT IT HAS A CHARTER AND IS LISTED WITH IMED FAIMER ECFMG ETC

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS SHOULD FORGET CMU FOR SEPTEMBER. EITHER WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE SORTED OUT OR ATTEND ONE OF THE OTHER SCHOOLS.

IT IS TIME THAT PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS START TAKING HEED TO THE SENIOR MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM.

AS SOON AS A SCHOOL STARTS THAT EXHIBITS NO THOUGHT OR CARE ABOUT THE FUNDS OR FUTURE OF THIER STUDENTS, MEMBERS MUST CONTINUE TO STEADFASTLY GIVE WARNINGS UNTIL THE SCHOOL IS EITHER CLOSED OR AMEND ITS WAYS!

NO STUDENTS NO SCHOOL!

I don't even understand how anyone can concieve the idea that they can just open up a MEDICAL SCHOOL for that matter, not even a simple trade school, and assume that they can "wing it" and register students, collect money, WITHOUT first getting their documents in order KNOWING FULLY WELL that the documentation CANNOT be issued RETROACTIVELY.

And somehow believe that they will cross that bridge when they get there, and all the while hoping the documentation will not matter or that other students will not notice.

What type of person does this anyway, is there some sort of underlying condition that will make someone behave like this.....I just can't imagine it.

Exactly, and obviously should know better.

Instead he is running around planning open houses and orientations like all is gravy.

ITS CALLED THE SIN OF GREED.

It is most certainly true that the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked!

RE Especially someone who has been in this business for the last 6, 7 years.

Well that’s it right there!. The man has years of practice. He has learned the art of deception, graft and greed well from Ha Ha.
One now wonders if RL was not HA HA's teacher.LOL

Really? No offense, but there really should be no "grace period" in being able to provide this documentation. The charter should have been signed before the school took the first student's tuition. Claiming IMED/ECFMG/WHO listing and USMLE eligibility on their website when there is in fact none is fraud and should not be given any leniency.

Emto36 is of course absolutely correct. Starting a school without a charter, and without IMED/ECFMG/WHO listing and USMLE eligibility is more than criminal, and deserves only that the school should be boycotted by the students. Experience has shown that schools that start like this do not last very long.

Students get hurt. Parents get hurt. Staff and their families get hurt. Everyone gets hurt.

This time last year I was in the Cook Islands teaching four of the sharpest medical students I have met. The school did not last a year. It was plagued by the same lack of charter and lack of IMED/ECFMG/WHO listing and USMLE eligibility as CMU. Its associated daughter school IMSA also closed in lest than a year.

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS YOU ARE AGAIN WARNED!
STAY AWAY FROM ALL SCHOOLS THAT DO NOT DO DUE DILIGENCE IN PROVIDING THESE ESSENTIALS BEFORE THEY SOLLICIT YOUR FUNDS!

IF THEY CAN NOT OR WILL NOT START CORRECTLY WHY DO YOU SUPPOSE THAT THEY WILL FOLLOW UP AS THEY OUGHT LATER?

Nah, I'm not providing a grace period, rather I'm giving him enough rope to hang himself.
I just feel that making immediate demands only forces more silence and by posting warnings while making a note every so often about there is no IMED/ECFMG/WHO listing, will make the point clearly.

I agree that this school needs to accept responsibility for it's actions or lack thereof, but you can't force a quickly becomming dubious businessman into something he doesn't want to do.

Perhaps a thread of how many days have passed with no certification would be good too.
