View Full Version : Looking for a good premed magazine
Question

I'm looking for an informative, yet slightly entertaining magazine that has interesting articles about the human body.
Discover Magazine tends to have some good articles about things such as cancer, hormones, ageing and the like. It's the best one I've found, that someone without a medical degree can read and understand.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Please remember the Terms of Service. No sexually orientated material allowed.:twisted::D
Nah, Playboy talks about everything but the human body. Probably have to be something more risque like Hustler. But ANYWAYS...
There's not such thing as a "premed' magazone, but most premeds will have read a couple of articles from JAMA or Lancet or some such during their time in college.

My roommate forwarded me this pre-med magazine called Insidezout magazine (www.insidezoutmag.com (http://www.insidezoutmag.com)) that she subscribes to and I thought it was pretty informative. It covers a lot of things. It's not so much that scientific content you're looking for but its the first thing that came to my head when i saw you wanted to find a good pre-med magazine. Otherwise, if you want more of that scientific reading, you should go for Science or SEED magazine. Anyway, good luck with everything.

I find going up to the library and sitting in the stacks with the journals fun every now and then...Thanks for the tip!

Look at chicks magazines because they always have a ton of articles that are about female medical problems.

If you do not want to go into obgyn want to learn some biochemistry, then I recommend some of the hard-core body building magazines.

You will not learn much about biochemistry in body building mags. They rarely ever talk about the mechanisms behind how steroids work. I recommend the Molecular Biology of the gene by Watson or any of the Biochemistry by Styer books. While they are not light reading - They will go way beyond your medical school biochemistry course which is biochemistry light.

please stay on topic./
I would say the AMSA magazine is terrible by virtue of having the tone of an average highschool senior's editorial.
