Hey Vadim,
I see that you are from NY and I am also from NY. So, I was wondering how did u go about obtaining a Police Clearance to go to Saba.
1) Did u just go to your local police station and just asked for the letter of good conduct?
2) How long did it take for u to get it?
3) Was there a fee to obtain this letter?
4) How long is the letter valid for? ( I heard someone mentioning it is only valid for 3 months so getting it early is no advantage)
5) What documents did u need to present to the police station to get the letter?
Anything else that I need to know?
Thanks in advance for your response.
I am pretty excited to go to Saba also but I'll be there in Sept.
Hope to see u there and good luck with everything.

I was actually going to get the letter tomorrow so I will let you know as soon as I get it. From what I understand, all you have to do is present some valid ID, then they look you up in their data base, and if all is fine they give you the letter. Im probably going to type it up from the sample that they gave us and bring them a copy on a disk and have them put it on their stationary.

Hey Vadim1980,
I know how you feel I am really excited for May, yet kind of nervous in the back of my mind
Regarding the police clearence letter, I thought they would adress the letter to Saba and follow the "Sample letter" but here in Toronto they just had their standard letter "to whom it may concern..." and so maybe you shouldn't bother typing up the Sample letter cuz my guess would be New York police department would have the same process as Toronto.
Hope to see you in May (OMG less than 2 months away... :o )

police depts are used to the police clearance thing.. many ppl need to obtain clearance statements for various jobs etc..
any generic statement or form on police letterhead stating that you have no criminal record will do, you dont need a formal letter addressed to saba or anyone...
my letter just said something to the effect of " the above named person has no criminal record on file.. " and maybe another sentance and a stamp/raised seal authenticated the document...
so save yourself the trouble of typing up a sample letter, its not required at all... police depts usually have their own standard form/letter...
and thats right you show em valid picture id..
they do a search for your name etc in their database and then you go back and pick up the letter...

All you have to do is ask them for a police clearance letter and they type up a generic letter. They usually give it to you the next day. I am also going down in may, should be fun. What airlines are you guys taking from ny?

I'm glad you're excited about Saba in May - good for you! I however am NOT excited. You see, my boyfriend is also leaving in May to go to school. It's really a sad situation. Any tips on how to deal? I'd greatly aprreciate it. Thanks.

Take Jet Blue from JFK in New York. You will fly from NY to San Juan, Puerto Rico, then get Liat Caribbean Airline to St. Maarten. The cost of a one-way ticket from NY to San Juan should run around $99, and the cost of a 5-day round trip from San Juan to St. Maarten will be $70. I guess Liat doesn't offer one-way tickets, but purchasing a round trip with 5 day return is cheaper than any other "one-way" ticket by other airlines. You just won't "returning" to San Juan in 5 days.
