What is the area like around the school?

The school is right in the heart of downtown Vieux Fort. Fortunately, we are shielded from most of the nosies due to the fact we are located on the entire top floors but still within walking distance of shops and stores such as KFC, snack bars, movie video rentals, grocery stores, dry cleaning, drug store, cell phone shops, clothing stores, pizzaeria, and banks.

How noisy is the airport? Airport traffic?

We are right behind the airport. Fortunately again, most flights go to the other city (Castries/SLU) and the flights to this airport (UVF) are only once a day, being Delta and AA during school hours. Both leave around 3, which is in between class so we get to stare out the window while we count down the days left here!

What is Vieux Fort like?

Vieux Fort is small and quiet, except during Carnival time. People are laid back and nice. The area is underdeveloped but still has access to the necessities of life. There are little to no distractions for studying. Even Paula Dean from the Food Network came to visit, with a segment recorded and aired right outside our school.

Are there any beaches within 2 or 3 miles of the school?

Less than a mile are miles of beaches (does that make sense?)... The shores are clean and there is even a restaurant shop which offers kite surfing.

most people live in housing right by the school / airport ? Or do most live in the neighborhoods that are northwest of the airport?

No, unfortunately it is not like downtown of a US city where nice condominiums are available! Most students live do live NW of the downtown portions named Cedar Heights, Black Bay, and Hewarrnora Orchard where private housing it rented out.
