Hey guys hows it going? i have just been accepted for sept of 07. In the application package it mentions that we need a ophthalmoscope, and a sphygmomanometer. is this true? or not likely to be needed untill later on? also it mentions students are expected to be dressed professionaly everyday for class, should i expect this to be a common thing or occasional? im just trying to get an idea of what bring!!

Don't need those things until 4th Tri (physical diagnosis) Usually you need your stethoscope for Health clinics, but the AMSA (American Medical Students Association) has been lazy. Besides they should supply them for you. Dress code 8-4pm every day M-F Collar, close-toed shoes, and no jeans, no scrubs -retards....especially about the scrubs---but you will find many a tard at Spartan....

The dress code as per some 'few' professors - they say that you cannot wear scrubs.
I mean many students do not always follow this rule, but be prepared to get kicked out of class or sent to the dean's office or 'not get attendance' because of this.
Most profs are not to bothered by your dress but you will find a few hardliners who will expect you to dress perfectly.

Retards...just my opinion sorry. I mean what kind of doctor is not allowed to wear scrubs??

There are more Canucks here every trimester.
Check out some of my other recent posts as there is a lot of info that I have included about housing and the school.

Some students will leave after their last exam on the 24th...that is the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Trimesters and as for the 4th trimester they will leave after the 31st because they have to do their EXIT examination - (it's the final for everything-cumulative of all courses)

There may be some students that stay for the break which is usually 2wks sometimes 1 1/2 wks and rarely 3wks.
What 'should' happen is that there should be a posting at the school of contact numbers if you require assistance but this really depends on how organized the incoming SGA (Student Government Association) is or if the Student Affairs Liason Dr. Ben posts it.

Although you should come early - housing is always a tough issue when students get here - beware of this!!!! I have posted previously about housing issues that you should read.

As for more info on me, its not just me, but a bunch of us lets say - students like yourselves. Its easier to stay anonymous because we can then say anything and everything truthfully without the school slapping our wrists the next day or the next exam?? Exit examination perhaps??
It has happened before and there are many stories out there. So to stay on the safe side while being able to help out our fellow Spartanites, its best nobody knows who we all are. You never know, you may join our ranks soon.

Good luck in September!
