When I examine the course listings of all the Carib med schools, I find something that approximates the following:

Cellular Biology
Biochemistry
Physiology
Immunology
Genetics
Medical Terminology
Medical Psychology
Ethics
Epidemiology and Biostatistics
Gross Anatomy
Histology
Embryology
Neuroanatomy
Microbiology
Pathology I
Pathology II
Clinical Medicine I
Clinical Medicine II
Pharmacology
Bullpoop fifth semester USMLE course to collect extra tuition
72 weeks rotation

The CMU course lineup appears legitimate but looks nothing like the traditional list above, except for the Bullpoop semester, which always has clin med in it to mandate its existence even for a non-Step student. In particular, Physiology topics are spread all over the place (hematology, endocrinology, gastrointestinal, reproductive, etc.). What does this mean? Is this the trend of U.S. schools? "Basic and Translational Research" does not seem appropriate for an undergraduate med school curriculum; nor does Clinical Research or Neural and Musculoskeletal Sciences. This curriculum appears oriented more toward the researcher than the clinician.

Does anyone know about the look of CMU's curriculum, and how it compares with the rest of the world? Why aren't the other Carib schools following this model?

How does CMU evaluate transfer credits when there is no similarity between their course lineup and that of the other schools?
