I was asked this in rounds today...

Where in the liver does ALT come from?
Where in the liver does AST come from?
Where does GGT come from?

follow up question was...

if GGT is elevated and alk.phosphatase was normal, what would you suspect?

ALT - liver cytosol thus elevated in HEPATITIS
AST - mitochondria thus elevated in ALCOHOLICS
GGT - is a sER enzyme thus elevated in ALCOHOLICS

GGT elevated with AP normal could be alcoholic?
