Has anyone been accepted to Queensland yet? I've been accepted, and deciding if I should go, I would like to talk to some other people who are going, possibly to find roommates.
Please let me know
Joanna
Hi there,
I've also been accepted. I think UQ is a great place, and virtually everyone I've spoken to has a good impression of the place. I'm really excited about starting med school Jan next year!

Hi there!
Congratulation on your acceptance!
I applied to UQ a bit late (applied on 7/1/07) so can you guy give me some info on the process after you submitted your application.
What kind of score and gpa did you guy have? (No obligation here, feel free to answer as you like because I just want to gauge my chances.)
How long does it take to receive your interview? What kind of question did they ask? I thought they interview in September, as posted on their website.
Do you guy have to submit your transcript prior to the interview? because they haven't asked for mine yet!
Any other information I need to know please feel free to advise. I'm greatly appreciated.
Thanks

24 M. off campus probably. i've found a couple places near st. lucia campus. everything seems to be priced much like any other big city in the world. never been to australia, so hopefully i get lucky and find a nice apt.

First off all, Congrats to people who have been accepted!!!
Do you guys mind sharing some stats like where you went to uni, GPA/percentage, MCAT etc...
Also, for international students I know it is a huge financial investment, if you guys don't mind me asking, how are u financing your studies @ UQ?:)
thx
yes!
Very curious about your MCAT score. Please share!

hi everyone! congrats to everyone who has gotten acceptance to UQ for Jan 2008! I'm 23M from Toronto, Canada and will hopefully be joining all of you!
For those who were wondering about the process, I applied in the last week of May, had my telephone interview 2nd week of July and my offer within a week after that. I think the overall process is around 6-8 weeks.
With regards to MCAT and GPA req's, I had a GPA of 3.74 and an MCAT score of 30M. I'm not sure if those stats are really indicative of the requirements to get in - I'm assuming I fall near the lower end of the admission cutoffs. My telephone interview went really well and I'm guessing that's what got me through.
best of luck to everyone who's applying!
Cheers!

oh, and regarding financing my education -- God bless my parents!
But there are lots of other avenues for financing your education. I think you can get a student loan from OSAP or whatever ur provincial student loan organization is for upto around $10,000.
Then you can also obtain a line of credit for a low interest rate from banks such as BMO and RBC - they have specialist accounts for students attending medical schools / dentistry schools abroad and you can borrow I think upto $40,000 CDN based on credit history and if your parents cosign. More information can be found on their websites.

Hey folks,
Congratulations on your acceptance. I just got mine and now have to start figuring out how I'm going to live there. Are you guys staying on or off campus? I was thinking off but will need to find roommates soon. I just have no idea about how to start this up. Any thoughts?

Hey everyone! I'm 25 and from Toronto, I just got accepted to U Queensland with no interview and low low stats. I thought it was super sketchy that they didn't interview (they said they just changed the policy) or require a personal statement, and so I accepted SGU's offer. In your opinion, how do the two compare against each other? There's still time to change if it's a drastic difference!
Thanks

Congrats! Well, from my friend's perspective (he chose SGU), he says SGU is the "Harvard of the Caribbean" and it prepares you for the USMLE's. Matching rates for SGU are pretty decent. You should go to their site and check their match rates. CarMS matching has gotten pretty decent for SGU as well, although I'm not sure about UQ since they don't publish their stats. So if you decide to go back to Canada after SGU, I would say you stand a better chance than you ever did. The reason my friend chose SGU was precisely because of USMLEs, since Australian schools are not structured to prepare you for Step 1. Good luck on your choice!
