I decided that I do wanna go to europe. there seems to be alot of information posted on the forums... too much to grasp.

Can anybody recommendme a school ...preferably 4 year program where I can apply for the fall?

I have all my pre-reqs and MCAT as well as my degree/

Are all 4 year programs disapproved by cali?

Thanks in advance for the info guys:)

As of now, yes, they are all disapproved. However, certain schools are very close to being approved. I talked with Pat Park of the med board of Cali, and she revealed some very good news with me. I suppose I'll let everyone know at this point.

She speculates that by the end of this month, Jagiellonian will most likely be California approved for both the 4 and 6 year programs. This is HUGE news, as it will be the only Euro 4 year program approved. Apply now, because by this time next year, guarantee the competition will be much more fierce. Imagine the alternative this will present to the Caribbean:

1) Much cheaper
2) Much nicer location to spend a few years
3) Cali approved, which only 4 schools out of about 30 can boast in the Caribbean

Also, apply to Poznan. There paperwork is very far along as well, if not as much as Jag, they will most likely be approved in the near future as well.

Krakow is a good school, but Pat Park didn't mention anything about them being close to approval. Good luck!

Hi. I'm not sure if it's still possible to apply to 4-year programs in Poland. I know that 6 schools offer it: Krakow, Poznan, Warsaw, Lublin, Katowice, Lodz ( here are the links to their websites: http://www.geocities.com/magdaemily/medical_studies.html )
You should e-mail or phone the school.

:D The name Pat made it hard to tell; I felt awkward in each e-mail because I couldn't address them as Ms./Mr. Park.

Do any of you know more about Jagiellonian? Just wondering about where the clinicals are as well as the entrance requirements for Americans into the 4 year program. Up till now I was either considering HMI or the carribb but this definetley seems interesting.

I'm willing to bet you can do electives in the US or Europe, but cores probably should be done in Poland. Plus, it's cheaper to live there and you don't have to pay fees to the hospitals you rotate through, as you would have to if you wanted US clinicals.

For admissions, it's probably more competitive of the European group of schools. But a mid-20s on your MCAT and over a 3.0 would probably be sufficient to get you in. They say a 28 on your MCAT would be sufficient for early admission to the program, but who are they kidding; that's a pretty decent score, just 2 points shy of an average US matric. I think they lowest they will accept is a 20.

Still, to be competitive, I'd ballpark it around a 25/3.3? Pure speculation, of course.

Ya the details seem a little hazy at this point. My gpa is about a 3.2 but my mcat is in the low 20s. Do you happen to know what their website is and if they work through an agent like HMI or if we have to apply directly through them?

Here's the website:

No agents, apply directly to the school by mailing your app all the way to Poland.

it is not as great in lodz, trust me i am a student. although look what we settled for.....it is poland and the city is the crappiest, many nicer cities. look at my previous post i was all for lodz, but after attending i am sceptical about them. be aware you can NOT do more then about 6 months in states, and thats if ur lucky, all of us have to either stay in poland for clinicals or go to UK (which is very expensive). you can do it no matter what, but you have to be dedicated, hard working, and know how to self study real well and u will be fine.
