Hey guys,

Could someone please shead some light on the following three hospitals.

Jackson Park Hospital, Chicago, IL All Cores
Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, IL OB/GYN, Internal Medicine
Provena Hospital, Elgin, IL All Cores

I have read a lot about JPH on this site but not much on the other two. How are they? What is the location of these hospitals? I am not from Chicago and have no idea where these are located. Are they close to downtown?

I don't hear of many students going to Provena....how is it there? What's Elgin like?

Anyone from chicago or a student that has done rotations there...please help me out!

Thanks!

The first hospital is South of downtown Chicago (my guess is about 15-20 miles from downtown). The second one is closer to downtown (5-10 miles). The third is very far from Chicago, in North Western suburbs. You can find these hospitals by using Google Earth. I've never been to any of them though.
Good luck

The only things I've heard about JPH is that it's a good teaching hospital, but the area is shady. MRH is well known among its area hospitals (Mercy, UIC, Rush, UofC, etc.) That area isn't too bad, since it's by Mercy Hospital and Lake Shore Drive. I don't know much about Provena Hospital, but Elgin is ~45-50 miles north of Downtown Chicago. The area around there should be decent, but will probably be a very quiet environment.
