A few questions about Step 3...

Hello, I hope someone can answer these questions:

1.) Having bought Crush Step 3 and having used Step 2 Secrets previously for Step 2 I noticed that Crush is almost like a watered down version of Secrets. They contain essentially the same material but Crush isn't as detailed as Secrets. Has anyone here used Step 2 Secrets to study for their Step 3 and been successful?

2.) Can anyone here who's taken Step 3 without having done any Residency share any advice for this exam?

3.) I signed up again for USMLEWorld and noticed that they now show your percentile in addition to the percentage of questions you have correct. They didn't have this when I used their Qbank for Step 2 last year. 56-58% of correct questions puts me around the mid 30 percentile of others who are using the Qbank. This is kind of disconcerting...do the same rules apply? Getting 60% of World correlates well with passing the actual Step? If so then I'm to think 70% of the people using World will pass the exam? :confused:

I didn't use step 2 secrets to study for step 3, is used crush step 3, first aid, some kaplan tapes from a friend who attended the live prep course in 2002) and i did USMLE world questions. I am not in residency either, i did step 3 to boost my chances and i passed. i found the percentile thing a little disconcerting at first but as long as i was scoring above the mean on all the blocks i felt confident. i got an 86 on the final exam which was very challenging i found....(see my previous post about the CCS cases).
