Is there a canadian equivalent to USMLE step 1?

If so what is it called?

Not exactly equivalent. The MCCQEI is something between Step 1 and 2.

In USA everyone takes the same exam. USMLE 1 & 2 etc etc. In Canada, IMGs have a different exam set just for IMGs, different from the home trained docs and designed to keep IMGs out of the system.

"This info. has been gathered by talking to those that have taken these exams" Therefore it is first hand info. NO middleman invloved.

I am sure if the civil society presses for change the system will change. And if those in the system decide to establish uniformity in the way they examine their grads, they certainly will opt for the examinations that are being given to home trained docs not the other. Until then, it is M**E against the OTHER.
