What about medical program in PFU??

i was thinking to apply for english medical program in PFU so need to get any information about there already many people mentioned about PFU
that's why apply that program. can you tell me more detail what i'm supposed to do each year such as anatomy, organic chemistry, biochemistry or more. how can i prepare to take state exam and normal exam give me some advice how to go through well even also final exam
anyone tell me above all of them, really curious about everything!!!

as for the type of classes you ll have ..i dont think you need to worry about them now.. they all are medical related classes..

just apply to PFU.. that is the smartest move you can make when choosing a russian med school....

hey bpoichan, long time no speak! i've been studying. now my exams have finished i can concentrate much more on uni.
im going to visit pfu in the next few months so i can hand in my application by hand as i want to start september 2008 i think.

i already send my application document by DHL still nobody response
my application document so i need any advice how to handle of this
problem. do i need to call to international admission office or whatever
then find out what's going on or something else to do. give me some

PFU is a RUSSIAN med school.. what do you expect? the delay and the bureaucracy russian style is a pre-taste of what is awaiting you once you ll be there!!

I think they are on summer vacation.. the admission commission is out on summer vacation.. and in russia when it is summer vacation.. litterally everything is on PAUSE...
i guess that you ll have to wait til september and 'hurry' your application.. and if you get lucky then you ll be able to go there..
i could ask a friend of mine to take care of your application..but he is russian and most russians wont do anything for free... so i dont know if i should ask him or not..

Yes, it is true. And the difference is I know exactly what happens in the university whereas you may just generate your suggestions.

They admission team has no vacation during summer time and they consider the documents weekly.
Sprit, you need to be sure you used the correct address and indicated the way to contact you correctly. Also, they may use regular mail to reply you and it takes time you know.

I do not lie. They are on. To prove: I have letters confirming acceptance of our students issued today, on July 4 and June 26.

they are not on as you say.... i know sergey ershov.international students admission officer... the dean of the med fac at RUDN..Frolov.. the admission is closed..
now one can send his/her application and may get a reply in the 2nd admission committee in september..

the letters that you are referring to are the invitation and the print outs that the secretary (who has NO power in accepting ANY students)..i can even tell her name: ludmila... has to send to people that had applied earlier to PFU..so that they can apply for visa etc..

If anyone applies now.. no reply will be sent to that applicant as the ' decision-makers' are on vacation.. no reply til late september..

for all those prospective students that have made the late decision to apply to PFU..and would like to enter the medical faculty by this fall...
well it is not too late.. if you put in your application and have someone in russia that can ' push ' your application..but understand that the decision will be made by september..
if you are interested in applying to PFU without having to pay an extra 1 or even $2000 to some intermediary person..
send me a private message and i ll get you the phone number of the person in charge with foreign students - english medium at PFU..and if on vacation i ll get you some people that could help you expedite your application.. without wasting time and $$$$ with some agent!

better contact some PFU student and get ur job done by him ....Russian public services are not yet that much professional....they have seen open market just fr 17 yrs ....its still an Immature system that is attaining its maturity at a remarkable pace.

Bpoichan...it seems that you are a PFU student ...I am a 6th yr student at St Petersburg State Medical Academy (eng medium)......Just wanted to know from you if PFU has a 6 yr English medium programme or its 3 yrs eng 3 yrs Russian Med programme....also if possible let me know which Depts of PFU you personally consider to be good for Postgraduation ?

yes PFU has a 6 year program in english..


the best program is the traumatology/orthopedic department.. seen as the most prestigious in Moscow.. though some people will talk to you about CITO institute.. the faculty is famous..but the great thing is you get to DO IT ALL!! lots of hands-on experience..you can become a great surgeon within a year..especially if you allocate yourself to hospital no 20.. great prof there and HUGE AMOUNT OF WORK.. . the chair is often on TV Dr Zogorodni.. and a funny guy too!

let me tell you about the other depts

Gyn/Obs is pretty good..the chair is fluent in english.. and you get to do quite a lot as well!! many great profs there and really willing to help as long as you show motivation...i assisted to 2 births.. i mean that i did not watch but actually DID all the procedures..!! as was a 5th year student then

The surgery department is also great .. the new chair Dr Klimov is a genius.. LOTS LOTS LOTS hands on experience! the hospital has undergone lots of renovation..my first appendicitis in 4th course.. then lots of sutures..inguinal hernias.. and basis procedure!!!

Internal Medicine...is ok.. the beds are always 100% full.. so you can work a lot.. the chair is a great cardiologist.. you get to do a lot.. that s where i heard all my murmurs.. and stuff..


i would avoid ophthalmology.. although you could get a great one year of practice.. but they dont give much to operate.. you could polish your knowledge in doing great eye exams.. use all the apparatus.. so at PFU 1 year ophthalmology full time! and then transfer to the Fiodrov institute would be best..

The ENT department is not great ...the staff sucks.. the place sucks.. you can do things if you want.. they ll give you procedures to do. ...but i did notlike the people.. the staff is 100% ukrainian ..and if you are not one ..they wont be nice to you..


Face and neck surgery is a great place!!!!!!! really cool staff!!! lots of work cuz most of the neck and face ops come to us!! the hospital is a little far from PFU

cardiosurgery is fine!!! small department .. unlike some other famous place...but that means that you get to see lots of stuff.. and do lots of stuff.. i attended lots of heart sugery..but they took about 8 hours each from skin to skin... soo tiring..

the good thing about PFU is that you are treated nicely whether you are a foreigner or not..
if you check and ask around at various PG programs in some Russian med school.. ask the foreign students..and see how much is given to them..and what they do.. you ll be surprised..

I do know the difference between an admission letter & an invitation letter and I did mean admission letter.
You are emotional because you support your statements by subjective information and do not see lack of logic in your texts.
However, I agree it is the place to offer information not to loose time for a discussion with a self-affirmation of a boy. To my knowledge the admission process is on and it is true because our office is on PFU campus and I visit the University every day
