Hi
I got accepted into Romanian med schools, to Oradea, Sibiu and Constanta.
In the other hand I also have been accepted into Argentinian Med Schools in Buenos Aires.
My doubts are, I want to begin my studies in one of the above mentioned schools but after a while I want to transfer to Madrid (Spain), since my family is moving there.
What would be the best option? Start in Argentina then transfer to Spain (because of the colonization Argentina and Spain have bonds)
Or going to Romania because it is in Europe and also a EU member now and has a ECTS?
Can anyone help me?

Buenos Aires, hands down. I'm assuming you got into English-language programs in Romania? These are most likely not looked upon that favorably in Europe, so going to school there in hopes of transferring sounds like a very bad idea.

Buenos Aires, what can one say? Considered the most beautiful and charming city in South America. One top of that, it has excellent universities (like the one you got accepted to), and some notable alumni to boot ;)

Legal!

So, any reason you decided on Buenos Aires over Brasil? I can't imagine a country with more natural beauty (landscape and people) than Brasil. Of course, Argentina is muito belo as well!

I have chosen Argentina, because most med schools do not have entrance examinations, and also heave less requisites for admitance.
Comparable to Brazil, here we have a tough entrance exam (concerning all high school subjects) nad besides that, I have met quite a few people wiling to sell you a seat at med school. The other point is, medicine here is a monopoly, so the med schools here think to be a good school they do not offer more than a 100 seats (quite a few offer that, most less than that)
State medical schools are the best ones, but we face a huge problem here every year. They usually go on strike, either the students, either the professors, either the administration. So your 6 year program ends up a 7 - 8 year program.
The other point is, I am sick of Brazil, because of the violence here, and the high cost of living (I live in Sao Paulo)
Buenos Aires is a metropolitan city, but way much more cheaper than Sao Paulo.
On the other hand, my wife is from Buenos Aires, so that´s why I have decide for ** As, but the point is, her family is moving to Spain, so we are probably going to follow them.

So where are you from France? Which med school do u attend?
J´ai deja vecu a Paris et Grenoble.
Et aussi au Quebec.

Yeesterday may father came up with the idea instead of Argentina, why not the French side of Canada...like Montreal or Sherbrooke, for example.
Do u know anything about those ones over Europe?

Hope not to bother u.

Réellement, Paulo, je suis un américain. J'habite à New York. Je ne vais pas à l'école médicale, je suis juste un étudiant d'université. Je recevrai un diplôme cette année, et puis vais à l'école médicale.

or perhaps...

Realmente, eu sou um americano e eu vivo em New York. Eu não atendo à escola médica, mim sou justo um estudante da universidade. Eu graduarei este ano, e atendo então à escola médica.

Lol, anyway...

That's too bad that there are so many problems with violence in Brasil. Do you live near the favelas? I didn't know that admissions to Brazilian medical school was so competitive, although it does make sense considering the size of the population. Argentinian medical schools are easy to get into, you say? Hmm, maybe I should apply when I graduate from my university next spring. ¡Amaría vivir y estudiar en Buenos Aires! Of course, it would take me 6 years instead of 4 years as it will in the US. But still; it's Buenos Aires!

Anyway, back to your original question. If your intent is to study medicine in Spain, your best options are to either:

1) Attend in Argentina this year and transfer. Unfortunately, I have no idea how many students they take as transfers.

or

2) Apply to a Spanish med school for next year, and just postpone your studies for this year. Although you have to take an entrance examination if you are Spanish, I don't know if you have to if you are a foreigner. I think option #1 is the best on, though, because taking a year off would probably have you very bored.

So, you are married already? Como velho é você, se você não se ocupar de me que pede?!

Ciao

Hi
What a good surprise, meeting an American that speaks french and portuguese!
Coz I have lived in California as a HS student and no one spoke any other language but english.
About the violence in Brazil u do not have to live near the favelas to fell the violence. As far as Sao Paulo is (much more like NYC), violence is everywhere and we have many curfews (not wanting to discourage potencial tourists!)
I have learned spanish coz I also have lived in Bolivia (started med school there, but droped coz diplome, does not give u a good reputation internationaly) and married an Argentinian.
Public Argentinian Med Schools have a tough entrance exam, but private does not. Some may say that have an entrance esamination, but nothing comparable to Brazil or anywhere else it is more like a "Foundation Year"
Argentina only offer 6 year M D programs and spanish medium NO ENGLISH MEDIUM.
Fees may vary 2k/ year, average is 3k /year and there is one private med school with a us$ 13200/ year All in Buenos Aires
All ECFMG acredited, WHO and IMED listed
Just a small detail Argentina is the only Latin American country that has been granted with 2 NOBEL PRIZES OF MEDICINE!!!

Probably I am going to start my studies in Argentina them move to Spain, coz, since I hold Portuguese citzenship, studies may cost 2000 euros year in spanish and in Madrid there is a med school that offer oppitional discipline in Aerospace Medicie and also is a partner institution of Hospital del Aire where grad studies in Aerospace Medicine are held
Living in Europe may have the possibility fo going to do elective at ESA. Since America is way too expensive and educational system differs form here down south.

Weel I thnk it is all,
Ufss!!!!

If u wanna go to ARgentina just let me know perhaps I can help u

That would be awesome if you could tell me more about the Argentinian entrance exams (I guess after you take one). As far as medical school here, yeah, it's totally different. You have to get a bachelor's degree first (4 years) then apply to med school (4 years), then residency (anywhere from 3-7 years).

I started taking Spanish when I was around 12, and I live in an area that has the largest number of El Salvadorans living outside of San Salvador, so there's plenty of practice for a Spanish speaker here!

Well you've certainly had quite a cool life so far; Brazil, California, Bolivia, now Argentina, and soon, Spain! Also, I'd like to mention there are medical schools that teach in English in Europe that allow you to transfer to other Euro med schools (Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, for example). Unfortunately, they are quite expensive in comparison to the schools you mentioned. I think it's around 9,000 Euros! CR is in the EU though, so transferring should be easier.

So, hopefully that helped; and I'd love it if you could give me some info on Argentinian schools! I don't mind how expensive they are, anything is cheaper than med school here! It's over $50,000 USD a year, once you factor in living costs!

Ciao, Paulo
