good idea or bad idea?

Hey guys question, once I am done my prerequisites and done taking my M-cat for medical school should I apply directly without finishing my undergrad? I mean with all honesty the last two years of my program is kind of not relevant to medical school. By the way my program is a double major in nutritional sciences and human biology. I will most likely be applying to DO schools and some American medical schools?

Since you are applying to US schools. Do it in the spring of junior year after April or May. Yes the last two years are important. Take biochemistry and English classes - they will help you with the MCAT. Also spend time practicing for the MCAT so you have a 35+ score.

If you're looking for DO schools, they seem to think a 24 is a good MCAT score. I think they go more on gpa and volunteering than MCAT. That's just the few that I've encountered, though. I don't want to sound like they're not competitive, because they are, but I know for a fact that you should apply early. If you don't apply early, you'll be playing the waiting game.

They are the only US schools that are adding seats. So they are geting more applications. Don't sit there fat a happy and think you are going to get in with the former GPA average and MCAT score posted in the the documentation - sorry my soap box and .02's. Don't shoot low!

That's a great point, LECOM told me that they had a 10% increase.

That's a great point, LECOM told me that they had a 10% increase.The one in Atlanta area even higher increase. With the new medical school being delayed in Athens, Ga due to the state's lack of funds and nut balls in Augusta fighting it. Students in Georgia have a difficult time getting in medical schools. The Augusta medical school (MCG) has no room to expand. It is the only state medical school. While highly rated - it has the same number of seats as back in the late 70's.

Yeah.. everyone is stepping it up... I even saw where my old chiro school is raising their GPA requirement because they have so many applicants. They raised the entrance requirement from 60 hours of college (with normal sciences) to 90 hour a few years ago.

I guess a lot of people want to go into health care..haha... so they have to raise entrance requirements to weed out and only let in people who really show they want it.. and can handle it.

i suggest looking at sdn which focuces more on us students.
