hello,
since we have certain individuals clamoring about protecting patients
from board certified doctors check out this article. if it is about patient
safety then why are we allowing phy asst/nurse pract. to work
independently?

yes ;these clinics are going to decrease revenues for int med, fam med
pediatrics in practice.
no ;having a MD available on the phone and not on site cannot be
considered supervision.
this legislation should be discussed nationally.
walmart and other chains would like a portion of the money from
delivering primary care.
if you are an ama member(student, resident, praticing physician) contact
them with your concerns
the solution is the primary care shortage is multifold
1) increase seats in medical schools
2) make state licensing more portable including reciprocity agreements
3) improve reimbursement for primary care medicine
list in not complete ; just some ideas
