View Full Version : My Challange To Agu

If I am lying, sue me for libel / slander. If I am telling the truth, please do the right thing!

AGU is a scam, the people that are they saying they are students (thetmelody and charlieosu) are obviously not. As of today (June 12 07) they have few students and are lying about the number of profs there. I have been e-mailed by folks telling me of their clinicals being a scam and ripping off students.

#1 Your information is incorrect...you are obtaining it from random people on ValueMD, possibly agents from other Caribbean school. You have never spoken to anyone directly affiliated with AGU.

#2 I am a student and I only came on this message board to answer questions for prospective students, not to argue with you and roundtree. It's obvious neither of you is interested in AGU so I think it's time you focused your attention elsewhere.

#3 People have said students from MUA have spoke negatively about AGU. We have SIX transfer students from MUA. Why would they transfer to AGU if it was so terrible?

#4 I understand the professors names not being on the website is frustrating. I would feel the same way you guys do if I was in the situation. I spoke to our admin and they have assured me they will be up by Friday. This is all I can do, I do not run the website. I would be more than happy to speak with an honest prospective student about the professors I have had so far.

#5 I would hope that any student interested in attending a Caribbean school would visit the campus beforehand to make an educated decision. Most of the students that have come to Belmopan have enjoyed their stay and chosen to attend AGU.

charlieosu sent me a pm saying he would be happy for me to call him. I asked him for his cell number and how many profs and here is what I received:

edited for tos

Same lies. No profs names available until they pull their magic. As for being an agent of a different school, I can assure you that is not the case. I desire to see students treated failrly and not ripped off.

Do you think it was appropriate to post my screenname?

I stand by my statement, I do not feel comfortable giving you my personal information. Look at what happened when I gave you my screenname. I told you I would speak with you on the phone, you are more than welcome to give me your phone number and I can call you using skype.

Also, I never said I thought you were an agent. I believe that is where most of your information is coming from.

And I'm sure all 5 have never been to AGU. Try collecting information from ACTUAL students.

Last time reminding: TOS will be enforced without further courtesy pm's here. While not against tos posting PMs is very bad etiquette. Posting other personal info (which includes AIM screennames) IS against tos. SO is flaming, harassment, insults and vulgar language. Review the tos you agreed to if necessary.

We are students of AGU and we never felt that we had been treated unfairly by AGU and had been ripped off.Can you tell me what order you'll teach your basic science courses? Your website says you'll have five semesters. What is taught each semester? Also where are your US clinical locations? Curious readers want to know.
Thanks.

NO! You are not students. I have also been pm'd by someone (who will remain private) who mentioed that the list you are supposedly coming up with is visiting profs and people on vacation down there who will teach a couple classes. HOW ABOUT POSTING FULL TIME FACULTY NAMES, also the failure of any student or admin to e-mail me or roundtree the names of any profs gives proof to what I am saying!

How am I being hard: Let us look at the facts:

1) Complete failure to post faculty names or extend the courtesy of e-mailing or pm'ing the names. Every time with an excuse such as TOS regulations, you are not a potential student etc.

2) Why have I been pm'd by students saying there are no real faculty?

3) I have been pm's by someone who I must keep secret, who said at best they are collecting names of visiting faculty to post on their site

4) Their site is bogus and full of lies

5) Another pm by another student who left saying the place is without facilities.

6) PM's by someone else who posts frequently saying AGU never answered one of his e-mails

7) Same 2 people responding (both newbies) with teh same canned answers

8) medical17 being the owner of the place

Use of names in PM's is allowed and not a violation of VMD's TOS. However, please toe the line here about names being posted in the forum. Also no insults - be civil. We do want to get to the truth.

Im pretty much stunned by all of this, why is this school even a topic on ValueMD, there needs to be a line drawn on what can be considered a school, I believe the WHO list is a starting point. ANYONE who even would consider this school has to be EXTREMELY unaware of the consequences of going to a school like this. I see no reason to even discuss this school and arguing about it is retarded as well. If you are that bad off that you cant get into a recognized medical school then you seriously do not have buisness being a doctor

I like to look at FACTS. And here is one fact: If AGU has 10 profs in Belize, why has every single student failed to pm anyone the names? Why has the office failed to pm anyone the names? Simple question and one which has been brought up so much, the AGU admins are scurrying as we speak.

I am not giving you any names because they are being posted on our website TOMORROW. And yes, first semester we only had 2 professors because we were the first class...there was no need for more. Our class only had students. As each new semeester starts, we gain new professors. As of now we have 10, 9 full time and one visiting.

This semester (3rd) I am using:

Medical Microbiology (Patrick R. Murray)

The Human Brain: An Introduction to its Functional Anatomy (John Nolte)
Case Studies in Nueroscience ( Ralph F. Josefewicz, Robert Holloway)
Nueroanatomy: An atlas of structures, sections, and systems.

Immunbiology ( C. Janeway)

Genetics in Medicine (Thompson and Thompson)

I also use the Step 1 review books for more info...not sure if everyone else does as well.

Ok now we are getting somewhere. So for the third semester you'll have Microbiology, Neuroscience, Genetics and Immunology. Help me understand something - most schools teach Genetics with Biochemistry. Yet you'll have a separate genetics course. What semester do you'll take biochemistry? Just curious? Thanks

Atlanticvioxx . . . I have been reading your responses and claims. You are a joke . . . Looking around at other forums, you tramp around to each. My question to you . . . Do you have this hate for AGU because they would not entertain you an interview for a position? Yes, I have done my homework. You applied to AGU an they were not interested in hiring you . . . possible reason for your vendetta, huh? Do the right thing . . . leave this forum for students who are interested in speaking to current students and not disgruntled Employee "Want To Be's."

To the rest of the posters and readers . . . I apologize for coming across unprofessional, but this lame duck really needs to find a new past time. Possibly Antlanticvioxx still does not have challenging enough employment.

Fior that matter, I have applied at many schools on this form, not just AGU. I have also applied at MUA-B (Who you accuse me of defending all the time). I see scams and I see good schools. Nothing here is personal. The only issue I have is with schools which scam the students (of which I believe the ones are AGU and IMSA)

I personally invite you to come and visit our campus in Belize next week. I will actually be there for two weeks. I am certain there are many students, including Charles and others with whom you have chatted who would welcome you and give you a tour of the facilities. . . . It appears you feel very strongly in your convictions and all of us at AGU would certainly welcome the opportunity to present what we feel is an awesome medical school. Come on down . . . Meet the faculty . . . Meet the students . . . check out our labs & library. If you want to buy a textbook though . . . we will probably recommend Amazon.com. Hey, the AGU soccer team will be posted up on the website shortly . . . they even have some really sharp new uniforms . . . come watch a game while you visit!
