Ok, it might be a little interesting that I actually do not know this information, and I think I have a really good idea, but I will just play pure DUMB and ASK:

Why the ECFMG has to wait 3-4 weeks to give you the grade?

1- When you hit that last block, they already know your score like when you take the NBME.
2- I understand that they have to go thru the security tapes.
3- They have more people testing besides you:rolleyes:

But sometimes during that waiting period you just want to call them
and :cursing:

I have an idea of what they do with your score before they reported, you really want to know:

:-miner:ald::chatter:

Now if you receive the passing grade

:-rainbow
If you receive a failing grade

:violin::frustrate

Who knows?

med students are stressed over a long period of time.. if they were to give the score so fast.. we would rush to go to the next step of going into rotations and even study for step2. maybe its their way of saying.. relax..

Yea right, relax good one.
But I think that the best thig to do is to just study for step2 , if you PASS you have not waisted your time, if you Fail, it will help in the clinical vigentes.

But still who else has an opinion or idea about it?

I think its just cuz it goes through so many security checks and a teacher of mine was telling me that they go through all the questions and even check the ones u got wrong and see how u answered them. Cuz apparently to ensure that the exam wasnt leaked or something ur suppose to asnwer the wrong questions in a wrong manner to or something along those lines! Dont ask it didnt make senes to me when i heard it

Wao that is interesting, but if they do that. I think that would be for all the people that score more than 230 and a little group from the people that PASS.

Like anything in life that is worth knowing or having, patience is a true virtue for a Doctor to be. Another reason could be because the exam is given throughout the year, to have a standardized scoring system they have to pretend that they are taking a month to analyze your paper and scoring your test relative to other people, otherwise they would have a lot of lawsuits on their hand.
