I believe that the Constanta University unfortunately no longer offers medical programs in English.

According to this link all medical programs are conducted in the Romanian language: http://www.univ-ovidius.ro/admission/bachelor-degrees.php

i think thats the romanian site bcos according to this site University of Constanta Medical School (http://www.ovidunivconstanta-edu.org) set up by the sdac(agent) it states that univconstanta have an english program i'm not sure how true it is beause if the site is setup by uni itself it shouldnt be .org but .ro, so i'm thinking fredricus is right that all medical programs are conducted in romanian.
good luck in search:taz::dance:

Constanta is still teaching in English Sibiu is not...currently the Eng programs are:

Constanta
Carol Davila Bucharest
Iasi
Timisoari
Oradea.

Wandering the internet .. excellent access to Internet and cell phones cheap too... I was surprised and pleased to see that CA recognises these schools.. CA, Hawaii and AZ are the most difficult to get lic. as a foreign grad.

Ooops forgot Cluj which is central and not as well served by train/bus compared to the other schools which are all on the borders.

Hey..
Is IASI(I am currently studying there) recognised in the CA list? I am talking about the english program as I have heard that only the romanian language course is recognised? Can you give me a link to their site?

Thanks

None of the English-language courses in Romania are on the CA approved list. You're right to want to verify these things for yourself and not rely too much on hearsay from an internet forum. Here, Medical Board of California - Medical Schools Recognized by the Medical Board of California (http://www.mbc.ca.gov/Applicant_Schools_Recognized.htm)

for univ constana either you have to apply directly to them after getting contact add and send them with required docs or you can send the documents to minstry of education (search google/yahoo) and specify your university of preference.
i bel;ieve that bucharest and cluj universities are renowned.
best of luck.

:)Hi gang!

I've been over twice to investigate and have been thoroughly impressed at a few UMF's and thoroughly disappointed with others. I myself am a Californian from Fresno (someone has to live there!) and am an old fart of 50 years; therefore, I'm looking at foreign schools. The statistical evidence of students over 44 yrs. gaining acceptance don't lie. (2004, 12 seats/16,800)

While it is true that none of the English programs are CA. certified, the fact is that none of them have ever applied for certification. Also, to my knowledge there are not any USA students in the English programs. The English sections for 'studenti straiini' (foreign students) are filled with Indians, Israelis, and a smattering of Pakis...all very nice, cordial, and eager to share their experiences with you if you visit.

As far as certification goes, a team of 2 inspectors from the CA. Medical Board would inspect each school for 2-3 days while the schools host them. I believe that the students interested in having the certification done would need to come up with the expenses (air, hotels, transportation) for the team, and the UMF's would agree to have it done. The bottom line is that none of the Romanian UMF's have that kind of money. As far as I could see, the programs are identical (English and Romanian) and wouldn't have any problem passing certification. The Oradea program wouldn't pass a 6th grade exam, so forget that one.

A word of advice to those who lurk these boards seeking an easy way to earn an M.D. degree and license. Two of the schools, Bucharesti and Cluj-Napoca are as tough as U.C. San Francisco...Cluj in particular!
The Cluj program is really where you want to be accepted at, iff (if and only if!) you are ready to work. Both programs have NEVER had a student fail USMLE 1 or 2, and I met several graduated students with scores in the 99.2 nd and higher percentile on USMLE1&2. Bear that in mind please! Constanta (Ovidius UMF) is an above average school, with the added distraction of having Central Europe's largest party beach and disco center as well. If you are a straight male, fit, and reasonably good looking with confidence, this situation could ruin your medical studies.:p I have had correspondence with several grads. practicing in the USA with USMLE scores in the 90+ percentile. Dr. Dan Ilescu is the coordinator for the foreign students at Constanta.

I myself am studying for an RN license before I study medicine in Romaniaville, so that I may have something to fall back on....just in case the worst case scenario happens. This RN license will also enable one to work (in CA) for the 2 1/2 months summer vacation from Romanian med. schools and make enough to pay the tuition and live like a king over there. Also, my business plans are to recruit, train, and broker Romanian RN's to US hospitals, not to actually practice as an M.D. except for volunteer work.

I'm going back in late May to visit and have 2 dental implants done by the UMF Prof. of OralMaxilofacial Surgery. U.S. $300-325 each using the same 3M implants Dentists use here in the USA. A large pizza and pitcher of beer or Coke runs about $1.25-1.50. This gives you an idea of how far the $3600 per year tuition goes in Romania and how much of a blessing and Godsend it is to the University. So if you choose to visit, don't go over there like the 'Ugly American' and flaunt your wealth. These are very proud, kind, and generous people. I will post a blog with photos and video upon my return.

Ciao for now,

Tim Nugent

There is no need 2 pay for any agents, i dont understand how people can pay that much amount to someone. Apply direct 2 the ministry of education.
