I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about these 2 programs that I am considering? What would be the pros and cons of each and which would be the better choice? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

I thought UHSA was closed. I looked into the HCP program at Windsor. I e-mailed Mentors in Medicine but never received a reply. I e-mailed 4 state licensing boards, the one board which replied ,was skeptical and would review if I applied for license in their state.

FootDoc as I tried to tell u in private message. Windsor Program is not an internet program. UHSA is. There is NO advanced credit for HCP's at Windsor. No short cuts...but program does allow some flexibilty for HCP's. You will be spending 4 semesters on St. Kitts and you will be attending all classes just like regular MD program students..... except at times it can be more intensive (eg: final exams period etc).
Hope this helps!!!:D

Exactly IronMic,
The on Island/in class time works out to be the same as anywhere else. Flexibility is the issue with the HCP program. State boards(and individuals) are skeptible in general about any FMG program. Also, UHSA was blacklisted by the state of California board of Medicine. You can see the refute letter from UHSA to California board of Medicine at the UHSA website(or at lease you used to be able to do so).:)

I've been reading up on some other threads. It seems that UHSA may work but it may be somewhat riskier as far as getting licensed. They currently have an 18 month program to finish your basic sciences. This program entails going to UHSA for one month then coming home and working for 2 months. While you are home you will do "blackboard" learning as well as set up 6 hours of rounds with a local medical doctor per week. You can be done with UHSA in 3 years barring any roadblocks.
I believe that Windsor will take you about 2 and 1/2 years just to finish the basic sciences. Then another 72 weeks of clinical rotations. You have to go to school for 6 weeks, go home for 10 to 12 weeks, then finish up the semester by doing another 6 weeks... That constitutes 1 semester. You will literally have to fly down there around 8 to 10 times in a 2 and a half year span. The way it pans out is you can get about a semester and a half done in a year. I may be wrong but it seems that it may take a total of about 4 and 1/2 to 5 years to finish the Windsor HCP program. About 2 years longer than UHSA. But it seems to be a safer bet as far as getting licensed. If I am wrong on any of this please correct me.

Lifeman:
If u choose to complete your basic sciences 6 weeks at a time, then u are correct. I personally didn't choose this option. I have always completed the entire semester. Again while it is hectic towards the end of the semester and finals...it was worth for me to do it this way.
Although I know a bunch of HCPs who have done it the other way!!
Anyhow...I'll be off St. Kitts for good in about 2 more months!! :D
There isn't really any risk with this program...because you physically attend all classes with the traditional MD program students....NO SHORT CUTS!:p
I DO have serious reservations about the USHA PROGRAM. LASTLY, I do not believe you can EXPECT this schedule (6weeks) to APPLY TO the clinical sciences portion of this program ... so once you start...its pretty much straight thru. :D
HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
