View Full Version : AGU new website
First of all I am not a liar as what one of the students of AGU called me. I live in Belmopan, and I personally know someone who works at AGU. Apparently, they do not moderate this forum, so they can't do anything but "maybe" use different usernames to log on here. This is maybe the reason why they put up their own website now, Caribbean Medical School: American Global University Medical School in the Caribbean (http://www.agusm.org) . They posted pictures of the building they are renting, but as I've mentioned before they are only renting the third floor of that building and that's all they use to operate their business. They used to house their students in the same floor of the building, but I am not aware of their new dormitory as claimed in their website. In fact, I am not sure if I have seen that structure here when Belmopan is a very small city, the smallest capital city in the world. Another thing is they still claim to have professors from the US and UK, and posted 2 pictures of their professors, who are none of the professors I know who teaches there. May I repeat that I only know one Indian professor who teaches there, and he's not on the faculty list. I just wonder how this deceiving medical school can survive if big medical schools that were officially operating here did not make it before. Just a thought, why not put a signage at least that you exist here in Belmopan? What is there to hide about?

I have read your post and am curious to know where you are getting your information. I understand you live in Belmopan and know one of the AGU employees. I find this hard to believe; your information is extremely inaccurate. The "new" website you mention has been up since Summer 2006. You are correct, AGU is renting a building, however they are renting 3 of the 4 floors. Also, there are no students residing in this building, there is a dorm building in which we live. (located off University and Rose Garden) All 10 of our professors have been educated in the US, and yes there are 10. Not 1 like you claimed in your post. I am not quite sure why you have chosen to spend your time on a message board about AGU when it is clear you are not a prospective student. If I am mistaken and you are interested in AGU, feel free to contact me with and questions you may have.

Everything Charlieosu said is correct . He is handling the situation politely and decently like a gentleman. He is a real potential doctor.Good training.
Yes, I am a prospective student. I inquired there personally one time and talked to one of your professors, who you claim to have education in the US, which is obviously not true and a full lie. In fact, I found a much better and "real" medical school here in Belize which I am planning to attend this September. You could tell from their website already that they are not hiding anything from their potential students: InterAmerican School of Medical Sciences (http://www.interamericanschool.com/about_us.htm)

I have no reason to lie about AGU. I am a student. The school definetely has some issues, as all startups do, but lacking good professors is not one of them.

Sorry, the fact is the school has very few students or profs. The fact that you are lying is major disservice to students who will be spending large sums of money and taking out loans. Do the right thing!

Hey - I am confused here. I looked at the website which has pictures of the Gulf and a pretty seashore - yet the school is inland about 22 miles. Where are you yourself THETMELODY located? Are you at the school now? Curious readers and future medical students want to know

Hey has anybody gone to the valley of peace there? Did you cross the Sibum River to get there? Do they have wild orchids growing there? How long is the trip? Just curious?

This is good to know. I will be in Ambergris Caye June 22th to the 27th and will be exploring other parts of Belize. I will check this school out if it is only 22 miles. We are flying into BC on the 20th and from BC to AC on the 22nd, so the 21st I will go to Belmopan and see about this place and on the 24th I will go to San Pedro to check out MUA.

We are located about 50 minutes from Belize City in Belmopan. Atlanticvioxx, if you would like to come see AGU during your visit I will personally show you around.

I will be meeting with an MUA student in San Pedro. As for AGU, I will be showing to look at the place, I prefere to remain unknown.

Of course you do...how would you learn anything about the school without actually speaking with the students and faculty? I was told by the students that transferred from MUA to AGU that they are not even holding classes this semester. I'm curious to know who you would be meeting with?

Good question.
I cannot post names of other individuals. I will only post my e-mailings, if they give me permission. One must remain professional.

Being professional requires making sure you have correct information before posting on a message board. We have students here that transferred from MUA, even a professor from MUA (I'd be happy to PM you his name so that you can ask "the student" you are meeting with about him.

I am an MUA Belize student and this post is NOT intended to criticize OR defend either AGU or MUA Belize.
I will be meeting with an MUA student in San Pedro. As for AGU, I will be showing to look at the place, I prefere to remain unknown.
Atlanticvioxx,
from some of your posts in this and other threads, you've told us that you're going on a fact finding mission (for lack of a better description) to both AGU and MUA Belize, as a Good Samaritan, in order to share with all of us your objective opinions of both schools.
Okay, fine, whatever. It's a free country - by all means share away.
Then, you post (I've quoted it above for convenience's sake) that you have no problem meeting with an MUA student, but when an AGU student offers to meet with you and give you a tour, all of a sudden you're worried about "blowing your cover", so to speak.
Why is it that you have no issue with the MUA people knowing who you really are, but apparently have a big problem with the AGU people knowing who you really are?
I should think that accepting Charlie's offer of a tour would be the ideal opportunity for you to confirm some, if not all, of those unfavourable facts you've collected about AGU. But, if you're not willing to meet students and take the same tour/inspection/fact collecting mission of both AGU and MUA Belize, doesn't this attract a certain...aroma...to your objective opinions?

No problem. My plans have changed and I will be in Belize 4th of July week. I will be happy to let charlie (or any AGU studnet) give me a tour. No problem.

You will need to bring light, casual clothing. The university requires its students to wear scrubs and lab coats to lab (AGUSM lab coat is a required purchase upon attendance). If you can, have your medical books shipped to the school for your first trip to campus . . . the airlines will charge extra fees for overweight bags. All lectures include multimedia and the use of technology . . . profs allow students to download lecture materials . . . having your own laptop is a must! The dorms are new/clean and come with television (US cable), air conditioning, refrigerator, microwave, full bath, living and sleeping area . . . you will want to bring your own sheets, towels and the extra necessities you want from home (although you can also purchase these items once you arrive).

What kind of issues is the school having? I am a prospective student looking to transfer into 3rd year (I have already completed the 1st 2 and USMLE step 1). Can anyone give me info on the clinicals? Also what states can one apply to residency after graduating this school? Also, what states can one get licensed in after grad. What is the financial situation of the school. What is the average age of the students. How many students are in the 2nd year class (about to enter 3rd year). What is the average age of students. Lastly, are there many students with advanced medical degrees (like chiropractors, nursing... etc) I understand that I've asked many questions, but I am very seriious about the transfer (already submitted my application) and would like to get some insight into the situation at the school. Info much appreciated. !!!
