St. Martinus has been opened since Jan. 2003. That's four years and one semester and 5 weeks. St. James opened up at the same exact time. I know that past St. Martinus students had to take an inhouse usmle and score a certain number of points before the dean of students would register and sign off the documents so that they would be eligible to take the real usmle. Also, within four years they have had less than 20 students who have taken the usmle and three failed the first time and two passed on their second attempt and the last student is still waiting for their results. Furthermore, there is one student that graduated last January who hasn't taken the usmle and also another student that graduated in august and hasnt taken the usmle as of yet. So, I know the school likes to emphasize how good their usmle score is but they fail to mention that they have the control as to when the students take it. Not to mention, there is not even one student that has graduated successfully from St. Martinus. Yes, they do have students who are in clinicals but they are only in two or three states. If a clinical medical doctor called your hospital and had a past record would the hospital even consider talking to him? I think not.
Therefore, I feel that the best thing that they should do is to simply get a new dean of clinical sciences as they did with the dean of basic sciences as well. The new appointed dean of basic sciences is an excellent teacher and I hope that he will have the power to change things around for the better. As of now, just like the girl who has been there for one semester she is most correct. As long as St. Martinus has been opened, they have less than 30 students today. In pre med there are only two students remaining and 6 premed students transferred to the new school that has opened on the same island which is exactly 75% of the student population!!!!!
Stay tuned for details of tomthediver. Tomthediver posted approximately 60 posts and they were all in the CMU forum except for the first three because they were simply test posts. That is the truth and it should be revealed.
Also check out the thread about the "dean of clinical science", for another message by a former St. Martinus student
