I don't know why CMU and its students are under so much fire. I know a lot of it is coming from the other side of town; however, realize that the kids are a bunch of 18-25 year olds who left their homes and families behind to acheive their goals. If they chose the wrong school, they will lose their time and money.
Supportive criticism is a much more mature way of improving the school.
BTW, I am not affiliated with CMU or SMU.
Its a start-up, and only time will tell where the school will stand in a few years.
Also, the CMU students should try to promote the school by their hard work and achievements, not VMD posts.
VMD should have been a fun forum, and I don't know why has it become such a serious affair.

valuemd is also a medium for student recruitment (for any school). Because of the time and huge amount of money involved, its prudent to get as much info as possible.

They're under fire because they're ridiculous. They just make it too easy..paricularly with their "reality show" nonsense and it's "honors." Actually...if it weren't for that, they might be ok.

Sure, it's a place for people who could not get in somewhere else and it may be the only chance they've got. But it's foolish to promote it as something it is not. It is not equivalent to the established med schools and should not be promoted as a reasonable alternative.

Those who have transferred to CMU with a hope to become a doctor, did the CMU show them the license from Curacao Government (Charter) that would allow this entity to award medical degree? Did CMU ever present to any one a copy of the agreement with the Government of Curacao allowing them to operate a medical school? Did CMU ever show any proof of listing with WHO or even with IMED?. Did CMU ever show any one at any time a copy of an agreement with any hospital in USA or Canada that would allow them clinical training? Those who have transferred without investigating these simple basic facts should not fall for showey rented building, nice toilets, and awesome Indian food. All these will not give you access to residency and license. You do not and cannot know what is brewing behind this scam. Wake up before it is too late.

I think it's pretty clear based on your post history that you're not really an SJSM student. Your posting of anti-CMU comments is just as ridiculous as the CMU official promoting his school with the plagiarized website. Don't you guys have better things to do, like improving your schools? Man, if NS or any of our executives made accounts on this site, I'd transfer or drop out.

well, I guess you haven't checked the school official's list, NS himself and couple other accounts are open, but hasn't been used for a couple of years I think....

Thats my major issue with this forum. Everyone seems to religiously believe in selective freedom of information. If I like my girlfriend, it doesnot mean that you should start a verbal warfare to bring her down. If CMU students like their school and they are making a bad choice, let them. Dont transfer to CMU and enjoy your life.

On the whole I actually agree with you. BUT the big problem is that a lot of people choose their Caribbean school through the school's website/advertising campaign and internet discussions such as here on valuemd.

Excessive cheerleading can lead some people into a false sense of security and disinformation, especially those desperate to get into a medical school. Not only that, when the school's website is for all intents and purposes a carbon-copy with some name changes of a more reputable Caribbean school, it doesn't reflect good on ANYONE.

As a moderator, you are being quite unprofessional. Professional etiquette would dictate as a mod, you are not suppose to bad rap schools on these boards in an attempt to make your school look better or to receuit students.

I think you misunderstood my statement. I was being self-deprecating after being proven wrong about something. With regard to putting schools down, my point was that school officials who argue like children do a pretty good job of that by themselves.

AUA pulled much of the same advertising crap when they started. Then they got called on it over and over again on ValueMD until they realized that if they ever think about doing something unethical or illegal, they'll get exposed on ValueMD and lose prospective students. So, what CMU is going through is pretty normal, I'd think.

If I misjudged you, you have my sincere apology!

My view is that these boards seem to have become nothing but a recruitment tool for other schools and as a dissing session for students who have failed.
